Thumbs up Test drive day Part III,, auto trani in tune:)

Well as of today I can say that I have the 20b running
99% in the fc,, after doing some rewiring of the auto
trani computer, I am not able to really put my foot into
it and see how it's going to go,,, I connected up the
trani hold switch and the sport normal switches and
played with it a bit on the road, in sport mode the
shift points are moved up, and the hold allows the trani
to be shifted manually with great success.
the tach is not set even close, it was hitting over 8k
before it shifted,,, I thought my 3rd gen pulled hard
this thing pulls like mad, and there is no loss of boost
while it's shifting, just more pull.
that's going to be all the test driving for now until
I get the oil cooler, intercooler connected, and p/s
working so you wont hear from me for some time
while I work on that stuff.
o ya the 1% missing to make it 100% is only the fact
that the air pump is not working, something that I might
just get rid of anyhow.

later
matt

Use a good stereo mic if you've got one. I wanna hear it! Seeing it is good too, I guess.

The way the tonal quality changes as RPM rises is simply inspiring!

Yes it is amazing how the tone changes with revs and boost.

Doing a burnout in our JC sounds the ****! lol

low revs and boost just starting it grumbles away and then when boost comes on and the revs take off its amazing, music to your ears.

3" pipe into two 2 1/2" (one still blocked off until other muffler gets here) and one (at the moent) straight through muffler.

you mean that you can get it to do a brake stand?
I didn't try with my 20b in the 2nd gen car, but it felt
like it was going to stick to the ground really well, better
than I thought it would,, I thought it would have been
spinning the little tires that I have at every press of the
accelerator, but it wasn't really that bad, I was surprised at how well the 2nd gen stuck to the ground..

oh yeah the JC gets realy good traction from a standstill sudden full throttle burst.
But you press lightly on the brake then give it gas and shes all smoke.
I hold it in first, then once the boost and revs get up I let the HOLD off on the auto so it goes into the next gear. Due to a bit sloppy changing and a little rich running, if I have a little too much brake on it will just bog down after the change. But get it right (hard to do when you are in front of a big crowd at the drags and not used to racing an auto) and its all good.

I tell you what, you get it up to 6000-7000RPM in second (lever in 1st) then let off the brake and the bloody thing just keeps spinning up the road for ever, lots o fun

That's what I want my Cosmo to do... someday. Too rich for my blood at the moment though.
