Why not use 2-cycle oil in the sump?
Why not just cutout the middleman and put 2-cycle oil in the sump?
Seems to me that operating conditions in the rotary are similar to a 2-cycle engine.

I have an 05 RX8 with 45k and have been running full synthetic 2 cycle in it since there was 20k on the clock...no problems at all. Seems like half the ppl on RX8 club forum are using it. I was thinking about doing the same thing in the 91 RX7 I just bought.

Running 2 Stoke oil??? Thats crazy
The properties on the two oil are far from close. We could go into the technicals about this but there is no need.
2 cycle in the gas = Win
2 cycle in the sump/oil pan = Fail

You misunderstood the purpose of this thread. The OP was talking about 2-cycle in the sump. We certainly wouldn't need another thread about pre-mixing.

love the braaaap
To get into the technical stuff here, 2 stroke is not made to be pressurized and fed through a series of oil passages to lubricate parts. Its simply a filming lubricant thats made to be mixed into the fuel your engine uses. It also isn't made to go through tempurature cycling like regular oil does, hence the reason they don't have any SAE weight classings. Chances are 2 stroke oil would break down and be useless very quickly when put under the pressures of being used as the main oil in your engine.

Half of the people will agree that it is okay to put that **** in the main engine oil compartment...and another half will argue that no it is not okay to put it in the main engine oil compartment...I know what he/she was talking about...
But i on the other hand and a few others say 2 stroke in the gas FTW...

2 cycle in the sump would not be fail, it would be simply lose.
Fail would be 2 cycle in the ashtray.

I'm not smart enough to know if it could be done, but I'd argue the sense in taking the risk. If you're concerned about lubricating the rotor faces, then 2-stroke oil won't be equivalent to premixing because premixing is primarily all about an OMP failure. If your OMP fails with 2-stroke in the sump, you still won't get any 2-stroke oil to the rotor face.
If you're concerned about modiffying the oil in the sump for the sake of the bearings, I think 85rotarypower has you covered.
