I'm currently looking at an '82. Won't vote because I don't know if I will get it.

By the way, there aren't any 7's before 79. There were the R100, RX-2, RX-3, RX-4.

I wasn't aware that all 79's were savannas. I didn't think the Savanna RX-7 was sold in North America.

I believe one thing that distinguishes the Savanna is where the mirrors are mounted. They are about midway between the bumper and windshield on the fenders.

Well, I don't know that much about the Savannas but, correct me if I'm wrong, they were only available overseas, not in North America. Sorry, forgot to mention that if it is a Savanna, it would have a badge saying so.

Hey, don't feel bad or dumb about it. I'm only 17, but I just happen to have read a lot about these cars. You came to the forum to learn, so if I am correct, you just learnt something. We all have to start someware, and like I said in another post, most of us came to this forum without too much knowledge about RX-7s. We all came because obviously we didn't know something and wanted to find out more about it.

I edited my post above. Computer is so goddamn slow. Took 5 minutes to edit that post.

No, that is not me drifting. That is just one of the avitars that you can choose. If you read one of my previous posts, you will find that I don't own a 7 yet. I have never owned one.

I only hope all the information I gave you is correct. I've located an 82 RX-7 for only 500 bucks. Probebly going to get it too. Only needs a few parts.

The rx7 was first available in spring of '78, but in most parts of the world designated a '79 model. Normally the model year run ends in July so some may argue that it's a '78 if the date of manufacture is prior to July of '78. Anything manufactured from the end of July, '78 onward in that year is definitely a '79 by anybody's standards.
As for the Savannah name, as mentioned above, that's what the series one (ie: 79-80) rx7's were known as overseas--- much the same as the MX-5 here in North America is better known as the Miata.

The Miata overseas is known as the Eunos Roadster. I know this from GT3, the game.

Sorry, just had to add that. I'm on a roll today.

We have series 1-6 here,no SA, FB etc (I stay in South Africa)

Oh my word! I have a `81 Rx7! (I`am still not sure about this) Some parts are `81,and some are `82 on my car,i cant tell what year it is.

It was registered in `82,but that doesnt say much.

this is my fourth 1984. Just the luck of the draw. I've had two 1983, but just to get the engines out of them.

There is no such thing as a '79 or '80 FB.

well, technically there's no such thing as an FB period - these are codes that we, the enthusiasts, have come up with
