82 GS here.

It has a few add-ins since I got a blown (and badly damaged) GSL (also 82) a few years ago.

Mine is a 1985 GSL with the good old headlight washers! I love this thing to death. Actually it is the longest relationship I have ever had i had it for almost 10 years and I hope to have it many more! First generation RX-7's are getting rare up here, it's too bad they are great cars!

Anyway here is a pic with the light washers!

Its typical in Japan to use the number to identify body styles, ( FC FD, nissan skylines are identified by theirs as well, R32,33,34 etc.) I think it just found its way over here.

Current is '81, but have owned three '79's. Anything newer than 81 is kind of rare here, in fact, I've only ever seen one 1985 model in my entire life

now a poll is generally based around differing opinions....this seems simply matter of fact.
oh well, long as it is 1st gen its a good year.....was at the repair shop today with my father and ther was an 89 or so convertible RX....I pointed towards it and he said 'what that fiero?' heh

no offense to 2nd gen owners, ive been in a FAST stock 2nd gen turbo.

Mine's a base model 85, paid 850$ (down from 1250$) but put about 500$ into it to make it drivable. Lucky for me it came with a spare part for just about everything otherwise it would of cost a bunch more.

i drove it for 2 weeks, and when i got out of work one night, there was a dent on the bottom drivers side fender in the back.

I have an 82 GSL. Payed $500 for it and put unmeasurable amounts of money into it. It still isn't drivable even. I think I've put somewhere in the region of $2000 into it. I don't mind though. I can call it MY car. A car that is totally mine. i have a few personal touches in it. Some that might leave people like this:
