what type of engine oil to use, what to do about backfiring?

Hi guys , I have a 1980 rx7 with 160,000 clicks and I was just wondering what type of engine oil to use?? and I wondering about any suggestions or fixes for backfiring?? upon decelerating.

Are you still using the thermal reactor?
Backfiring upon deceleration is actually pretty normal with the TR.

I don't know how to get rid of the backfiring, I like mine since it shoots flames with it
