since me an my cousin recently pulled my 12a out with some chain and a sturdy bar id say ne were from 275-350 pound deppending on whats on there cuz i had already taken off my carb, upper intake manni, the alt, clutch fan, waterpump n some other bits n pieces but its not as light as i thought it would be. Im also a small guy im 5'9 about 145 and my cuzzins like 5'6 an 160 so it wasnt such an easy job to get done.

Per the GVWR sticker on my doorframe, my SA's MAXIMUM loaded weight is 2805 lbs; that's all fluids full, gas tank full, two people, maximum design cargo.

Fuel capacity is 14.5 gallons, so that's about 95 lbs.

Two adults, figured at Japanese adult weight (~175 lbs) would total 350.

Cargo; hard to estimate. I'd be shocked if designed capacity was more than 150lbs in addition to passengers. It's a sports car, after all.

So the car, dry fuel tank, no cargo, no pax, is likely right around 2200 lbs.

Weigh the engine and subtract.

(I know, I wrote all that before I realized you were asking abut the ENGINE, not the CAR. What can I say? Long day at the office. I'm willing to bet the "keg," stripped, weighs less than all the manifolds/pumps/carb/etc that are bolted to it. I've lifted a bare keg myself; not easily, & not far, but can do it.)

I think that a 79-85 12 weighs in at between 200 and 220. My room mate and I lifted engine and trans (engine only had water pump left on it) out of the car with relative ease with a section of rope and 2 2x4's on end. The hardest part was me getting down to his height (he's 5'8, i'm 6'5, so my legs were at a much more extreme angle than his).

I can lift a 12a keg about a foot off the ground. I wou;dn't go any further than that alone being it is VERY bad on your back. I'd say it weighs about 175 pounds broken down to a keg. Fully dressed t weighs about 250 pounds.

The real question is what weighs more? A pound of steel or a pound of hay? :-)

With or without the tank to hold it?

IIRC, 80 cuft of dry 14.7psi air masses about 5 lbs.
