TurboII transmission in 1st Gen, slave cylinder question…??
I put a 87 TurboII transmission into my 1st Gen and finally got this thing running and on the road. After about a week of daily driving the transmission would not go into gear unless I pumped up the clutch pedal.
I bleed and bleed and bleed and still have trouble getting into gear. It goes but doesn’t feel like I think it should so I adjusted the pin on the back of the clutch pedal. It’s now all the way out w about three threads barely holding it in place left.
After ordering a new master, soft line and slave and i got to wondering if bc I have a TurboII transmission should I have ordered a TurboII slave as well…?
I mean I could just order both slaves being they’re relatively cheap and then do my own comparison side by side but everytime I post a thread I seem to also get some info I didn’t know or even think about so thanks in advance and ANY input is greatly appreciated…!!!

That's interesting. I installed a new clutch kit, resurfaced flywheel and clutch hydraulics in my FC over a year ago, and the clutch pedal engagement height hasn't been the same. I wonder if Rockauto might have misboxed my slave cylinder? Rockauto is good at that. I got misboxed parts from them a number of times.

The turbo slave cylinder is different than the NA FC and FB one (the mounting ears are in a different spot). The master cylinder, hardline and hose can all be FB parts, but the slave cylinder needs to be the T2 specific one.
I no longer have a NA one to take a pic of, but if you put them side by side the difference is really easy to spot.

FWIW, there MUST be free play in the clutch master cylinder push rod. I always adjust mine to have just a tiny little bit of wiggle room and no more.
If the piston is not allowed to retract all the way because the pushrod is too long, then it will never open the system up to the reservoir. So basically the clutch will get lower and lower and lower because fluid isn't allowed into the system.
