u tell me.....
it was a 66 stang, with a 93 cobra r 5.0L. Bored .060 over, 310 total, 10.5:1 compression, ported race '68 289r heads, headers, dual 2.25 straight pipes, cam, intake, carb, K&N, plugs, wires, and coil.elec fan, Weighed 2800lbs, 3.2 rear end, 3 speed c-4, 0-60 in high 5's. Never raced at track. it got there fast enough for me to lift when I looked at the speedo, needless to say, thats why I lost my lisence. I never lost a race in that car. I crashed it =(. Adam

wait so you came up with the money for that super car how? last time i checked cobra R blocks arent easy to find, why not just use a sportsman block? i dunno about those 289r heads youre talkin about, but with this magic money supply you should have gotten some TFS aluminum heads or something and while you're at it throw in a blower. also, with that huge supply of cash you decided carb was the way to go for some reason. how do we know you had all these items? tell me what cam you had, and maybe i'll believe you.
not trying to flame you or be mean, it just seams highly unlikely that you would have that setup.

WOW!!
3-speed automatic, and a 3.2(?) rear end at 150+ MPH, you must have gotten hooked up to the fastest tow truck in all of Arizona when you wrecked that one!

Sorry dude, you're getting the flag on that.............
if it's true than prove me wrong. A ticket from the cop would be good, or do you not have one 'cause he let you go?

here we go.....
lucky i still have the cam card....
Summit 1962-up ford-mercury 221-302 cu. in.
Lift
Intake @ cam 2942 @valve 471 rocker arm ratio: 1.6
Exhaust @ cam 2942 @ valve 471
Cam timing: opens closes max lift duration
Intake 0 38 109 218
Exhaust 53 5 119 228
Why did you have the run the bs flag up on my car? Go to CORRAL.NET or Mustangsandmore.com, I was a regular on both boards. Just for record, the c4 (3 speed) has the same ratio's as the AOD in the 86-93 5.0s, they just have 4th over drive. Do the math for 3.2 gears, thats ~140 @ 6000rpm, and my speedo was past pegged (140). Intake was edelbrock performer RPM, carb was a 4160 holley 4 barrel. heads were serial number C5AE, which was 65 heads, not 68, sorry. The small cc's of the 289 heads plus the over bore gave it the 10.5:1 compression. So what is so hard to belive that me and my dad built this car as a project since i was 14????Nothing was radically expensive, as would have been the TFS heads. And the carb was because trying to retro fit EFI on a 66 is a bitch, and you have to chop the inner fenders, on a classic? no thanks. or do you not care? You just dont want to belive it? no flame intended, Adam

Side Note : You may also want to change out the Wal Mart tires before the run. LOL

Old [Sch|F]ool
Top speed, bone-stock '80 GS - 5800 in 5th gear. That's, what, 124mph? On S-rated tires too
With ported engine but not running to full potential (restrictive exhaust/way insufficient fuel pump/temps running high) I was pulling up to 6k in 4th on the back straight at Nelson Ledges before having to tap the brakes for the "kink". And I *know* the car had more in it because I was always stuck behind some clod in the Carousel (loooooooooong sweeping right-hander right before back straight). Only passing was on back straight, and these ******* were taking the corners lightly and then dragging out the straights. Sucks for a car that could go another 10mph in the corners but has no straight-line speed compared to all the 911s and Vipers that were there.
Must return. Got PLENTY more power now...

Try it, you'll like it....
If you take a ride way up North, take I-75 thru Michigan, cross the Mighty Mac, continue up I-75 almost to Sault Ste. Marie. Get off the I-75 at Michigan Route 28 and head west. After a number of miles you can look over to your left (the South side of the highway) and see a fence going on and on with "No Trespass" signs hanging off it. After a while you'll see a entry dirt road. Take it and suddenly you're on an abandoned Air Force Base! Miles and Miles of solid concrete runway. Super wide, super long, and super well built, for it handled fighters and bombers on the old "Pine Tree Line" defense grid.
It's pedal to the floor time, No Cops, No Lights, No Stop Signs, No rises, or dips, and No people. Just you your car and miles of good concrete. What ever you do, Don't blow up, or do anything really stupid cause you're miles from nowhere.
'65 Volvo 122 S Rally car....About 110 mph.
'69 Z/28 with 4:11 rear, not really a top end car....115 mph.
'67 Austin Healey 3000, 125 mph.
'70 Volvo 140 Rally car...just a box, but rugged....105mph.
'76 Mazda RX4...front end dancing all over!....125mph.
'89 Mazda MX-6...Electric cut-out in 5th....115 mph in 4th.
'93 Mazda MX-3...V-6, neat little car....125mph.
My RX-7's? Haven't had one up there yet, but will soon. Would be a neat place to try a G-tech....
Hi-Ho, Silver...

I SWEAR!
To answer the posted question:
84 GSL SE, 13b stock..
Speedo said 125,... tach was in the light 6's
Felt like there was more......
However I must share this TRUE story with you!, I think you'll like it!
In November of 93' I had just acquired a Used (but extermely Clean 42,000 miles) 87' BMW M5,.. I got what I thought was a hell of a deal and purchased it for 18,500.00. Anyway, I had purchased the car in Chilicothe, OH. and was on my way to Cincinnati. It was sunset,... roof open, windows down,..... And I came to a long strech that was just begging. I looked behind me,...no headlights. I looked in front,... no taillights. So i rolled up the windows, closed the roof and stomped it,.. I mean I wrapped my toes around the radiator on this one. I caught a glimpse of my speedo at 130. after that, my eyes were on the road. I saw in the not to far distance that there was a berm coming in the road so i let off the gas,.......but the pedal was stuck! it seems as when i stomped it,.. the mat had wrinkled up and pegged the accelerator. so i start thinking,..."i cant pull her out of gear, it'll blow the engine. I cant turn the car off,... because i might lose steering(come to find out I wouldnt have... its a safety feature) Meanwhile still accelerating,.... I decide that Im going to reach down and pull the matt,...I know this is definitely a location thing and it doesnt sound like much,.. but imagine it!
when i reached down and pulled the mat up, I peeked at the speedo and saw the needle fade down past 155MPH!!
I pulled over and smoked a cigarette to calm down. Definitely one of the scariest moments of my life!
