Timing question

On my 79 I’m a little confused on how to set distributor. With TDC on pointer on pulley, should arrow on rotor face the leading igniter?
on another thread I saw lining up the distributor itself first, then install (pic).
Thanks in advance for setting me straight.

The way I do it:
*Line up the timing pointer with the Leading mark on the pulley.
*Align the marks on Dizzy shaft and gear (like your picture).
*Gently slide the dizzy in and expect the whole thing to rotate slightly when the angled gears engage.
*The arrow on the dizzy rotor should be pointed at the #1 Leading plug connection on the dizzy cap. I like to place the cap on and mark center of that "plug post" onto the dizzy body. Then when you slide it in without the cap you still have the reference mark. The dizzy advance slot (where the mounting hardware secures it) should be pretty centered with the arrow pointing at your reference mark for L1. If it's way off you can do it again but rotate it slightly to change the engagement by one gear tooth.

Vroom Vroom.
