Question Timing...retarded?

Hello gang,
Quick question here, looking at the main pully and the two marks that represent the leading and trailing. The marks are at 5 degrees ATDC and 20 degrees ATDC.
If one was going to Advance the timing, which direction is that?
I'm thinking that when advancing your timing, you'd be getting closer to TDC so if you advanced the leading by 5 degrees, you'd be right at TDC. True?

I was reading a how-to and they suggested that to advance the timing by 5 degrees, you'd put the stick in between the two marks but If I'm right about timing, it'd have to go the other way...
Thanks,

Cory

The gap between the two marks on the crank pulley is 15 degrees, set the timing 1/3 of that distance before the leading mark to advance it to 0 TDC.

You were correct in your thinking and whoever wrote what you found should be maimed for stupidity.

There are replacement pulleys that have more timing marks availible as well. I think they're kinda spendy if I remember right.
