Wow, that's a nice setup! However, oil that's too cool can be just as damaging as oil that's too hot, particularly for turbos. How does this setup regulate the temp so it's optimal?

The problem is the porsche guys aren't running rotaries... boingers are much easier on their oil than rotaries are.

Oh 911's.... I thought you meant 944's.

911's at least have something like 12-15 quarts of oil and a dry-sump system... Probably not a bad idea for a rotary, either.

Mazda oil coolers are frequently used for many boingers. They ARE rather large. (IE it's more than overkill for, say, an A/Sedan Mustang)

He already put it in, straight up. He made new brackets for it and the radiator.

Am I right?

Since rotaries don't suffer parasitic loss from a crankshaft dipping into the oil pan, I never really saw a need for a dry-sump on a rotary. The only Exception would be a full race car, where the high G-forces could move the oil out of the pick-up tube for an extended period of time.

DIRECTFREAK THINKING OUT LOUD:

If you *really* wanted a (cheap) dry sump system, (instead of $2500 for Mazda's) - couldn't you just use the inlets and outlets for the oil cooler, and run an external oil pump with a small reservoir?

Thinking out loud over.

i think a rotary would benifit from having more oil, especially the turbo cars. how you would do this is another subject that i haven't found a good answer for

Where are you getting all those cosmo's at? You buying them from Soshin in Japan? I heard someone say you dont pay by the motor you pay by the pound!!! But they send you what they want... You can specify all rotaries tho, but some may be dud's as most were used as core engines and parts

really? that would be cool. i got the 20b from fc3s.org, and the 13b was sitting in a friends shed, and more than likely the leftover t2 stuff will end up in the gsl-se
