You have a crap carb. Life is better with a Nikki. I wouldn't say it if it wasn't true.

You also have crap ignition. With an MSD, I have had the engine running extremely rich (was getting twice as many injections as it should have) to the point of thick grayish white smoke/fuel vapor blowing out the exhaust, but I have never fouled a plug.

I agree with the others. Put a Nikki back on the car. Get it running well and then focus on building a performance Nikki. Upgrade your ignition as Pete suggested and you'' have solid fuel delivery and fantastic spark to be able to ignite the mixture. Just be sure the engine has good compression before sinking money into go fast parts. If its weak, you'll accelerate the wear on it and your frustrations will only increase.

You need a hogge dout nikki for sure and you can redo the ignition on a budget without using
an MSD box as well. Get a good stock nikki and intake and do the ignition and go from there.
You'll be much happier.
