Shocking Assertion

Apologize if this has been beaten to death. Did a quick search of the archives but found nothing pertinent.

I located a set of NOS Koni reds for my SA22. Have not been able to locate rears. I came across an internet posting that said rear shocks for a Fox body Mustang would work.

Can anyone validate or invalidate that premis?

Thanks,

Herb

Did you try mazdatrix, racing beat or blackdragon. The front struts are the ones no olonger
available for SAs but the rear shocks are on these sites still. Your choice of KYB or TOKICO.

Check with Sam at SHQE Manufacturing / RE-Speed

He has the specs on my rear Bilstein shocks, which are great. Otherwise, he also carries Tokico etc.

Good question OCDHerb. I'd love to know the answer too. I also understand that the shocks from a ford focus and a camaro with bolt in too. I was never clear on what years either. I'd love to know the other options besides tokiko.

This thread mentions it, along with a ton of other info. It isn't the main subject of the thread, but explains a lot about aftermarket choices for fb rear shocks.

Really want to match my KONIs

I have seen other rear shocks available from several sources. But I'd like to match the red Koni's I found for the front. Any idea how I could find out if the FOX body rear ks might work for my SA22? shoc

I had a thread a while back and a member on here compared his fb (which has the exact same suspension as the sa except the front strut tube lengths) with a FOX body mustang and they were running the exact same struts, front and rear. If you can find the part number for the right fox body year, from his information it will bolt right up.

for some reason this info hasn't made it, or is hard to find from print catalogs to the internet, but all you need to know is the extended length, the compressed length, and how it fastens at the top and bottom.

the SA/FB rear shocks are kind of nice, because they are just normal shocks.

the front inserts aren't too bad, all the Toyota's use the same diameter insert, but all the Toyota's, except the MR2 rears are quite a bit longer.

Herb - rear RX7 spec konis come up on ebay regularly. If you are not in a rush you will find them there...
