Sent Carb for Tuning
Hey Guys,
I just sent the "Sterling" carb, the ported intake mani, and my ISCRacing airbox with K&N and my jet kit down to NY for some updates/tweaking/tuning.
Of course, that leaves me carbless for the time being, and I forgot about the MCO Autocross school on July 7th.
Anybody have (or know someone who has) a stock Nikki carb and manifold I can borrow/buy to hold me over until my Sterling comes back?
I've included pics of the intake that got sent for tweaking, since it was off the car and looked so awesome I just had to grab some pics. For those wondering, the dirty nikki off to the right belongs to Eric and was packed in the same box for rebuild while mine's getting tuned. But I'm basically just looking for something like that with a manifold to tide me over
Jon
Edit: for kicks I included a pic of my *original* carb that came with the car... the one I dissasembled but couldn't put back together. Ended up buying one from silverrotor that got sent to Sterling and turned into the shiney awesomeness below.

Since everybody loves pics, I thought I'd throw some more in at random.
I was gonna post one of me laying on the lawn of parliament hill drunk as hell... but decided against it

Hey Jon,
I have a stock one out of my car. Carb and intake. will let you borrow it for the price of shipping ... i'm within canada unless you want to buy it thats your choice too.
The carb was rebuilt around 2 years ago, but taken off about a year ago when i went with the holley setup.

Wow,
That's the most stock carb and intake I've ever seen pictured on the forum. You should get a medal, those pics are gold, lol.
Deal, I'll be PMing you.
Sorry Robert, the Canadian with the stocker is gonna cost me less in shipping, and since this is only a temporary arrangement, I'll pass on your generous offer.

Well I don't consider a Sterling to be stock, but if you mean 4bbl Nikki, yes, I'm sticking with that. I'm actually really impressed with the work Sterling and Carl have been doing, and the service I've gotten from them, so I'll stick with them

You mean its not a celery cutter for cocktails??? I bolted mine to a table and cut up a hole in the botton with a cup to collect it. THen I extended the gas pedal to the bottom of the floor and bolted it to the ground. That could explain my I thought my butterflies were dull ... I just sharpened them on an angle grinder to cut easir

I'll tell you how it rides when I get it back and dialed in. What I can tell you is that if you started opening the secondaries at 5k, it took off like a rocket between 5-7k (I shift at the buzzer, though most people tell me I should keep going, lol. Not until I've got my "Ultimate Streetable 12a" I won't). My primaries were a little slow on the uptake, but again, my jets and air bleeds were NOT ideal.

Ah, thanks. Yeah, that's kinda how mine is. Basically nothing from idle to 1500-1800. From 1800 to 3500/3800 it's got some useable midrange but it's sluggish, even with the light steel flywheel and complete RB dual pipe "streetport" exhaust system. From 3800 to 7000 it rips like a rocket when the secondaries open. The engine really comes alive up there and it took me by surprise until I got used to it.
It started with a stock exhaust and then I swapped in the flywheel and RB exhaust at the same time. I hope the new exhaust isn't causing it to go leaner than it was. The exhaust sleeves were light colored.
Modded stock carb with accel pump and mech secs. RX-3 manifold (flows somewhat better than a '79 manifold). '74 spec intake ports and exhaust ports slightly enlarged to match. Primary jets were upped from stock 92 to 94 because that's all I had. RB recommeds 105 primary jets for '74 13Bs in REPUs so I figure a set of 105s in the Nikki might work. I'd like to start with 100s and work my way up.
