Secret behind complete second gen ignition?
Whats the secret behind a complete second gen ignition system into a first gen?
I know it can be done, Im pretty damn sure....
Someone has to be willing to help out the first gen community and make a write up!
I have the second gen"distributer" but I havent cracked it open yet because these huge ants started piling out of it whenever I took it off the burnt up engine...

The CAS is not a distributor of any type.
It's a Crank Angle Sensor.
The computer uses the reading from the CAS to know where the engine is rotationally. It uses this information to calculate when to trigger the coils.
In other words, the CAS is useless to you unless you also have the computer, and all of the other sensors the computer uses to calculate ignition timing.

There is no big secret, you have to either run a stand alone computer or pull the wiring harness out of a 2nd gen and the ecu to control the dist/crank angle sensor all the rest of
the ignition system is straight forward but i dont' see the benefit of running the crank angle
sensor for the amount of work it takes. the benefit of the 2nd gen leading coil is smoother
starting and running but no real hp gains. With our ignition systems the stock coils are more
than sufficent unless running very high rpm's or a turbo motor.

I don't see why people are all horny to get rid of the distributor, myself. On a carb'ed engine, the distributor is the simplest way of dealing with the trailing ignition.

FB+FC=F-ME
Just run direct fire with 3 coils,and youll have a copy of the 2nd gen system,without the ECU hassle and without 3 factory ignitors.
The primary advantage to the FC setup is wasted spark on the leading,and no cap/rotor wear to worry about.The 1st gen direct fire gives you wasted spark and cap wear is limited to only the trailing system,which is less critical.

I've never worn out a distributor cap or rotor.
The real point to direct fire is so when you use your MSD you don't destroy the cap and rotor, which WILL happen with an MSD ignition system.

i just wanted a cleaner install....ignition wires going everwhere which are long ect ect.... since I can hide the power wires.....
I have seen this done with a carb'ed black SE.... I am on my laptop, and pics are on my other computer which is being used by someone for a little while, I will post em when I find the pics.....
my motor is a ported 13b I will be running damn hard, and turboing.... friend is droping off a large starion front mount intercooler, and starion black leather seats tomarrow... I have a t3 .63 turbo also Im going to rebuild and port....... 3" exhaust coming soon, and I need to rebuild my RB holley 600 converted to mech secondaries, so why not make it boost ready...

Why the hell would you want oil cooling only? There's a very good reason why OEM's don't use that junk anymore.
If you did find one, it would probably need rebuilt in the worst way.
