?'s on coils.

Hi all,

I am having problems with my trailing ignition. I traced it down to the coil, but I need to know if just any old coil will do. I was thinking the accel coils from Canadian Tire, but I don't know if they will work.

My dad surprised me with this (not in a good way). I thought the car was running perfect, and I blamed the miss on reving and bad idle caracteristics on the carb I just installed. My dad kept insisting that it was an ignition problem. Right now I have the idle set to 1500 rpm since it won't idle below 1200 rpm. I know it isn't the ignitor since both my tachs work (stock one and aftermarket hooked to different coils). So I need to know if I can just get a coil off the shelf at Canadian Tire or do I have to order the proper one. I'm on a budget so price range for OEM coils would be great.

Stay away from Accel coils, at least the cheap super stock coils, I have bought 3 now all togeather, and they all don't work any more, and the spark wasn't even that hot. And i'm running DLIDFIS! I picked up OEM replacements from napa and they are much better, for like 50 or 60 bucks. Canadian tire would not even take the coils back after 2 and a half weeks, To say the least i was pissed. I have heard of other bad experiences with accel coils.

Well thats the biggest scam I have ever seen. :P (why aren't the real smilies working?)

Anyway, thanks for the reply. I do have another question though. I filled my rad with coolant today. The whole system was empty though. Its been empty for at least 7 months. I put the coolant in and it only too about half of what it should have. I found that the heater core is still empty. So my assumption is that the engine is empty too. How are you supposed to bleed the cooling system?

bleeding the cooling system is the job of the thermostat in the conventional method. run the engine for a little while and then try to add water. it will take more. if it doesnt then watch the temp gauge. these rotaries can take some heat, but not much more. see if that works.

I think my thermostat might be stuck. I'm going to replace it in a few days when I can get one.
