Take the oil pan off first, makes things much easier as you only have to break one surface free at a time.

If someone previously used silicone instead of a gasket, it can be a pain to remove. I actually cracked one trying to remove it, but on the other hand it wasn't leaking, either

get a hammer and tap on the studs that stick out below the dizzy, the mounting studs for the ac bracket, that should knock it loose.. the front covers are stuck on pretty good sometimes

i just took one off today on my junk engine. i just drove a thin screwdriver in, and worked it around the perimeter, prying a little more each time. But maybe you'd want to be a little more careful if you plan to use it over again.

You have removed the e-shaft bolt, right? I have a thin, flexable putty knife that I use to break front covers and pans off. I start the putty knife in the middle of the gasket's thickness so I don't damage the mating surfaces.
