I get about the same maybe a little less but then again i have a racing set up. Holley 4 barrel carb, racingbeat intake heat sheild racingbeat exaust,13B streetport , 2mm apex seals, custom twin piping leading to a flowmaster exaust, ratsnest removed then customized, tweaked timing and distributor, racing sparks, pressureplate and light flywheel ...the works baby and I red line it everyday execpt this past week I've been having some troble with the antifreeze getting in the intake ports but that problem is solved and now i have to put the intake/carb assembly back on and I'm good .

When I'm racing mine (rallycross), I just shift when the rate of acceleration goes down, probably in the high 6000s or low 7000s (my tach is no longer installed).
With stockness there's no point to going that high, there's no useful power there.

When I rallyx I leave it in 2nd gear, which in our courses means about 3000-6000rpm, although I've been known to whack the redline buzzer halfway down a straight when it's slippery...
