Power Steering Delete

Who here has removed their Power Steering system?

What did you remove, (besides the obvious pump and brackets)

I am looking for pictures of what relays, and wiring, etc under the hood that
you removed.

What lines did you 'Loop' together?

I am trying to clean up under the hood.

I will Archive it and give you five forum bucks to whomever can
make it nice, clear, and easy to understand.

I'm surprised that after all the money and time you have into your car you wouldn't get the REspeed rack and pinion kit....
Hmm, guess I don't get the $5 huh......

I am looking into it, but when I drop the other engine in. I also need to find out if it will work with and existing 'power steering' setup, or regular FB's.

Right now, money is tighter than ever for me.

It might not be the safest thing but what I did was just remove everything but the "box" and just left some fluid in there and just capped off the holes.I need to get a regular manual steering box...works fine for now though.

Take everything out inlcuding the hard line and soft line from the steering box. then find a fitting to fit one of the outlet OR cut the stock line then run a short piece of fuel line like in the pix below

^That is the first thing that came into my head too.

And then the second thing was, "What is he doing with his current setup?"

Lol!!, 20b doesn't really interest me. They havent proven to be reliable.
Plus, the prices for parts is ridiculous right now.

No, I have another Cosmo RE engine that is Bridgeported, big intake, big throttlebody, ceramics, big turbo, etc. That will eventually go in the car with a Respeed Rack kit.

My current setup will likely go into an RX-8 for a daily driver.
That's why I don't want to mess with it, or upgrade it further.
I want it to remain very driveable.

Mel, here you go: don't spend it in one place..

deos removing the powersteering have the same turning resistance as armstrong? Because my pump is completely shot but everything is still conected. Will removing everything reduce the effort needed to turn it?

When my pump started to leak, I took it out and don't miss it a bit. I removed all the hardware, sawed off the tubes and connected them with a piece of fuel line:

I want to add PS to my 85 RX-7. I want to run an electric ps pump like they run in hot rods etc. Problem is I can't find a ps box.

Haha ok, thats kinda what I was thinking. I remeber you posting at one point you wouldn't put a 20b in a first gen, you would save it for a Rx-8, guess you've changed your mind about 20b's alltogether eh? What kind of HP you shooting for with that new setup?

Spin the wheel a bunch of times with the engine off, cut off the lines, loop 'em together with hose, DONE.

Make sure the hose isn't kinked like that one up there

I'm assuming it's bad that I just took my PS pump out when I replaced my engine and didn't do anything to block anything off?

The car has been like this for about 2 years. What are the negative affects of not having the hoses re-routed?

I just used the hoses from the system and came out with this

and added an Low side cap from an AC system and now I can drop some fluid to keep it lubricated.
