Should be a good multipurpose car, fast on the street, good on the track, great at the dragstrip and able to be shown off at the end of the day.

exactly, a one of a kind first gen is waaaay better(in many ways, IE originality) than a simple third gen. simple people will never know..
i would never replace my first gen with a third gen! and i have bought and sold many third gens!!

Hey I was wondering if the rear axle your using is about the same width as the original ones? Or is it a bit shorter to help you fit those sweet wideass tires? Any updates?

The rear end is shortened to the factory GSL-SE length. Plenty of room for the drag radials with the widebody fenders in the rear.

Not really any updates at the moment. Need to put some more money into it to get it going, need to do the grounds, instrument cluster wiring, and some more power distribution wiring. Also need to figure out what I am going to do to block the unused coolant ports.

camber plates

hello. i have a quick question. i am in the process of restoring similar wide body from the frame up. At this point i have machined camber plates. Looking at your pictures i see that they are pushed slightly towards firewall, and i see such relocationd via general resarch. how should i utilize it with wide body set up. I will have adj. coilovers over tocikos and 225/45/16 up front. i have already scrall saw machined my plates but i can still move them towards firewall. should i, and if how far (notching towers or not) based on similar set up that u have and your exparience). thanx for help. bartos

An idea (though I dont know exactly what ports are needing to be blocked but...), could you block the ports using sheet metal (or aluminum might be better suited), to cut out a plate, and drill through the nearest existing bolt holes?

Just a quick couple questions Im curious about. .

It does not look like your using any adapters, so were your rims made with the proper offset to fill the fenders?

And is the car sitting as low as possible without rubbing as is? Looks like your using either a 35 or 30 aspect ratio?

Our projects are very similiar, but unfortunately I think my perfect rims are only made in 18" and up. I just want to get this right on the first try.

His rims are custom made by CCW so he took all the measurements and gave it to them to ensure no adapters are to be used and no rubbing would occur.

17's gets pretty tight as is, but 18 can be done with a project such as this if you cut out the stock fender to allow more clearance.

Answering the questions and comments for me Sam haha, good stuff!

I will probally have to run a small spacer to bring the front wheels out a bit but like Sam mentioned I took measurments and did some research to get the proper backspacing for good fitment.

For the port comment he is refering to how I'm having issues finding a way to blockoff 2 coolant ports on the rear iron (top of the iron, I assume for stock turbo coolant feed) (and the line that is under the oil filter and goes to the heater core). Still haven't found a method I want to go with though...

Damn, sounds like you answered for him pretty accurately haha.

Could you tap the ports and install a plug (with sealant) To block them? Like a differential fluid check plug, I know they are made in various sizes. Just another idea, without actually seeing the problem myself. Thats what I would probally do assuming theres enough room to tap.

Not too much, blocked off the coolant ports on the rear iron that were bugging me for a while. I'm going to try and get the driveshaft in today, which appears to be a challenge with the torque arm setup.

Still have to do the grounds, wire in some of the accessories, put fluids in it, try to fire it up and locate some finishing touches to get it driveable.

Couple new pictures to keep everyone on the edges of their seats (haha). Put the wheels back on the car and rolled it halfway outside for some pictures and it started to snow as soon as I did so .

Anyways here is how it sits right now, need some shorter springs for the rear, it sits pretty high.

Dan was this the same widebody you found up there somewhere fairly neglected and picked up for cheap? Was doing some research and ran across one of your older threads with really crappy pics of it in the dark, you were asking whether you should paint one or get the widebody.

Was wondering if you still had any of the original photos to have some comparison to what it started out like. Be some crazy contrast if its the same car I imagine.

The left one looks slightly lower than the right in the pic. Probably optical illusion or hes not done installing yet.

You are 100% correct. I had to decide between getting this widebody or painting my old RX-7. As for the headlights being crooked, they are not installed at all just sitting there. I honestly would like to find another headlight solution, because this CPracing kit is crap.

Here is a couple pictures of what this thing came to me looking like. (I made sure to take alot of pictures over the time I have owned the car, don't regret doing that one bit.)

Another picture, this is the water injection kit that I got. Cooling mist Vari-cool stage 2, comes with a progressive control unit I got the dual injector option and stainless steel braided hose opton.

Hoping to get a bunch of work done on the car this weekend and starting it is just a ways away.

Installed the water injection kit today, and did more of the wiring. You can see how I mounted the tank, in the passenger bin and made it so the filler cap comes through the carpet. Running out of room for things and this area made the most sense.

You can also see how I positioned the injectors on the greddy compression elbow and the intercooler piping.
