Newbie needs knowledge

I'm thinking of buying a high-mileage (170K) GSL-SE with sreet-ported 13b with 10K on rebuild. Car runs 100 shot wet NOS.

I'm trying to make a realistic determination of the life of the engine. What kind of questions should I be asking?

Any thoughts/advice appreciated.

Thanks!

aside from it being available, what else attracted you to this particular car? what's your impression of the current owner?

when was the nitro installed, and how many times has it been refilled since then?
clutch?
transmission?
rear?

NITROUS OXIDE ..... Nitro is short for Nitro Methane ... e.g what Top fuel Dragsters run on

NOS, = nitris oxide, what the dentist uses sometimes.
laughing gas, One rule of thumb,,,never , NEVER , buy
someone elses hotrod. the best way to go, is to buy a stock car, then you build it up, that way you know what
has been done.. IMO

I agree with Mark. Would you tell a perspective buyer that it had been showing signs of wanting to puke soon?

"Oh, the bottle. Well, ya know, I only filled that once, and I was always real easy on 'er."

or you pick up one of those cars that has been through hell and back,

Randy Redneck - 'sure jimbo put on the 300shot',
Jimbo - 'WHOO that was fun but it didnt blowd up',
Randy Redneck- 'ok take the kit back off and sell that sumerbitch, hell we only bought it for 200 skinks'

buying something stock desnt mean it was always stock. Most people dont but modded cars, thats why its more profitable to sell it stock and part it out

just FYI

NOS is either New Old Stock (restoration term) or Nitrous Oxide Systems (brand name).

Say nitrous when you mean nitrous oxide, and nitro when you mean nitromethane. This way confusion is avoided.

But yeah, the general way to use nitrous is keep jetting it ever higher until the engine blows, and then back off a little and keep a bunch of engines stacked up like cordwood. Oh yeah, and trailer the car to the track, saves on getting a tow home.
