audio system 1

chapter 15; pages 62-78

if no help, get a fluke and start probin'. be sure to check the fuses cause it may be blown and thats why the acc is not hot.

Use a test light and just find the pin that has power only when the ignition is on. No need for a multimeter for a simple radio install.

According to installdr.com:

Dash light illumination- orange
+12 volt ignition- red
power antenna- blue or blue w/white stripe
+12 volt battery- yellow

84rx7gsl:

Off of the recommendation of someone on these forums I picked up a Mazda truck wiring harness kit from Circuit City that worked with the FB, but it was mostly useless. The reasons is you have to run new wiring for your speakers anyway (because of the external amp not working with new head units) so that only leaves you with the power cords.

Ground is easy, just tap into a nearby screw.

So the only thing you can use in the $20 kit are the accessory and constant power (which were labeled BACKWARDS in the kit.) If I were to do it again, I'd just pick up some connectors for 1.67 at Radio Shack instead for those two connections. Just use a multimeter or test light to see which cable is acc and which is constant.

i tried all of that i had found 4 wires with acc power and it still wouldent come on...my fuses are all good and the deck worked with the last car i owned. i used a multi meter. It still wont work. I am out of ideas. I have grounded it properly as well. I have no clue what esle to try. and yes i did run speaker wires becasue i was gettin so pissed off at the power not coming on. I hope my deck isnt blown. Or worse something in my car(hopefully not likely)

Go to the hardware store and get a long peice of wire. Get another wire for the ground.

Put the unit on the engine bay. Attach the battery, and the ground. If that wont work properly then the unit might be deffective.

Its a quick and easy thing to do.

Then if you figure out it works with the battery wire in the engine bay, just run a wire through the firewall. they have 10amp attachments to put at the middle of the wire. Just incase it gets to much or the wire corrodes and it grounds out.

thank you everyone for taking the time to help me.... i tried to see if my deck would turn on with both the acc wire and the 12 volt constant from the deck harness plugged into the car...no luck...but my buddy came over who has the same deck and we plugged my deck into his car and it turned on.... my fuse is good in both the deck and car. My stock stero will turn on. Just tested that theroy. The picture showed what i needed thank you for that. i Guess the next step is to wire it myself i asked the question more out of being worried that something is wrong like there isnt enough power there or something. The guy before me had a deck in the car maby he changed something... i was more worried thats all. thanks agian for all your time...ime goin to work on it right now and ill post some results

finally got to the car after a couple of days and i got it to work jsut ended up runningmy own power. I mounted my deck inbetween the stcok one i removed the tape deck and left the equilzer and headunit. It looks pritty sweet. I also wired my sub and managed to fit 2 10 inch subs in the back(my one 10 weighs 25lbs) its not small. Box is 1 cubic foot i didnt think it would ever fit. Thankyou everyone for your time
