Exclamation Need grounding help!!

I cannot find the ground for the wiring harness under the steering wheel area of dash
I have some problems with guages and tach not working/temp guage pegging out to full hot/fuel guage pegging out past full

I started looking for the ground but after several minutes under the steering wheel
cant find it

Im wondering if the previous owner maybe cut it off due to his canadian wiring,I just dont know

Does anybody know specificaly where it is supposed to be so i can see if its even there?

Thnx StumpDrummer

1980 Rx-7' bea turbo with big frikin yellow coils

Also should I go the direct fire route for ignition?

Here's what the chassis ground looks like on an 84 GSL, I assume it's the same on the earlier models:

Update on Grounding

Well I found out why the tach isnt working Its got a toasted resistor and capacitor inside it !!now if i can figure out a way to run the replacement direct

The ground Im talking about is supposed to be under the dash on the left side is what one of the wiring manuels said.

I will definatly check on the ground under the hood thnx for reminding me I get brain farts all the time there was one on the passenger side when I first got the car that was giving the headlights heck I tightened it up and theve worked fine ever since

does anybody know if the fuel guage and temp guage will work if the tach is out
I took it out a few mins ago after seeing the burnt resistor and cap

I cant say for sure where the ground should be but I can tell you that I would add a few extras thru the car if you have not already done so.
BTW - can you send me a picture of the front of your car so I can see the lower airdam. I am looking for a nice fitting airdam since I am not going to use my mariaha mode one

Well for now disconnect the pos cable and get a multimeter with trace. If you go to the12volt dot com they have some info on troubleshooting in addition to what's in the service manuals.

Will be glad too Fire, thnx for the compliment, give me a couple of days my friend has the digital camera

Does anybody know how to direct wire (not through the harness )the tach up that has 3 brass post on the back of it ?
Its a 7 tach but not the same year model as my car but it should work as the front 2 mounting post should fit the plate with the rpm numbers on it.

If I figure it out on my own without burning it up ill post pics and info on how i did it
but if someone knows It might help me from burning it up

All of the FB tachs should interchange. Outside of those years, 81-85, I don't know if they're compatable or not.
