If the bondo is 1/2" thick, how much cracking is showing? 1/8" is the accepted max thickness for filler. Glassing over it will help prevent later cracking a great deal. Just make sure you run the glass well past the bondo.

Trochoid, I've decided to redo all of that area with fiberglass instead of using bondo. I think that it will work out a whole lot better in the long run. Plus, nobody will ever be able to see that I've modified it from how it originally was. That's what is most important to me.

Cliff, it was great meeting you and your wife at SSX this year. Hopefully we can get together again next time I'm in SoCal.

By the way, if you run e85 in the car, you could probably get away with 15 psi and no intercooler. It drops the temps significantly.

First off, thank you for posting that article bro.

But the Avatar doesn't use an intercooler. It's a draw through carb setup. So the exit of the compressor housing is only about 4" from the intake ports. It's a straight shot. I'm already trying to work out a way that I can run water injection on the car without anyone being able to see that it's there. I just want to added safety measure more than anything.

I didn't need to post the thing about the intercooler. The correct wording should have been "Charge-Cooling". The whole point of my post was that E85 fuel might be then next best thing since sliced bread - especailly for a draw thru set-up.

The cooling effects of the fuel are amazing. I firmly believe that one could run 15psi with no charge-cooling of any kind on this fuel.

Thanks for the correction. I'll have to do some checking on that. Although E85 isn't very easy to source in NorCal from what I've heard. Not like I'll be racking up the miles on the Avatar once I do get it running though so that might not be too big of a deal. Grab a 55 gallon drum or two and just refill at the house.

Wow ... didn't think I'd see this come up. I would be interested in aquiring the car, but I have no room nor the funds to finish that kind of project. Really hope that it goes to a proper owner as you're mentioning.

That makes 2 of us dj55b. I do hope that it will go to a good home. Otherwise, I'll just have to ship the car back to Arizona and look for money elsewhere.

As I posted in the for sale thread, I wish you the best of luck and I'm sorry to hear about the unfortunate turn of events.

Thanks everybody. It's nice to see that there is still a sense of family on these boards.

The person who bought the car has plans of debuting it at SevenStock this year last time I talked to him. Not sure if that's still the plan or not. But I do know that this car went to the right home! The new owner is the definition of a rotary enthusiast and is one hell of a nice guy to boot.
