more trouble.

later today, my gas tank started leaking, I guess cuz I filled it right up, haven't done that yet. And it started to leak.
oh well, gettin it fixed tomorrow, along with new belts. ARGH!
Then I need to buy a new Sunroof Seal, andFix my wiring under the dash....
what a rat's nest.
Ground wires aren't really connected....
Somebody Added an O2 censor as well, and it's Disconnected, dragging on the ground, ......so I gotta reconnect it, and attach the oxygen /gas mixture gage,
to make sure it's not running too lean.

it's a project for sure

I have no idea why your 81 has an O2 sensor, it's not needed on a carbed engine. If you want to monitor your AFRs, spend the extra on a wideband, the narrowbands make for a pretty light show on the gauge, not good for anything else.

Fix that tank leak, dont want your next post to be well guys I blew up lol

A rats nest is a reference to the Emissions junk on the engine, if you live in a city where you have to pass smog you need this, if they do not test, then you can remove it.

Trochoid is right about the AFM gauge, but it sounds to me like you have no need really for a Wideband set up. My guess is that you are still pretty stock, thus its not needed.

Whats wrong with your wiring under the dash? Its better safe than sorry to replace those belts they are cheap, and it can be very bad if they fail.

Check out the FAQ and the Archrives they have some good info in there, oh and by the way welcome to the darkside!

Hopefully 'T' up there will drop in again and leave his trademark sig for you! lol

Any chance that the O2 sensor you saw was actually the Exhaust Overheat Sensor?

What's up Trochoid, no sig line for the new guy?

I doubt if it's an overheat sensor, unless he is mistaking the O2 sensor for something else, but that is a possibility. Post a pic of the item in question, that way we know for sure.

Yes I missed including the standard sig line, lol.

I thought that only the SEs would have an O2 sensor? His profile states a '81 for his car...

True, and both have heat sensors, which may be the confusion. What does the wire that's hanging look like? If it's an ss braided one about 1/8" in diameter, it's for the heat sensor. Black, 14 ga. would be for an O2 sensor.

hey,
yes, your description is correct. it's an O2 sensor. And it's an Aftermarket AFM thing. has 3 readings on it Rich/stoich/ and Lean.
The wires under the dash are all cut up, and some may be grounding out.
also I need to connect 1 or 2 grounds in the engine bay.
