Question Less vac lines, more hp?

My first first gen had numerous lines cut and that car barrelled like no other 7 I have had. Although, I had no brakes and several other things including a/c. My question is how many or which lines can I cut and cap off to create this missing hp without messing anything up? Keep in mind, I could care less about air conditioning. Also, by removing/bypassing my smog pump, will that be of benefit?

Search, the rats nest(vacuume lines for emissions) and smog pump removal has been gone over many times. You can remove basically every vacuume line connected to those little colored boxes and cap them. To remove the smog pump you need to either put on an electric fan, get a double alt pulley, or run a 3L220(did I get that right?) belt to keep the remaining belt from squeaking. Only remove the smog pump if your cat's have already been gutted or replaced, dont gut a stock working cat as I have heard they cost a couple thousand to replace and some classes of racing require them.

PeeJays right no HP. BUT, it certainly cleans up a otherwise ugly mess of tubes and makes it easy to get at the carb and other important things. I've cut out all the unnesseary wires from my wiring harness to get it as clean under the hood as possible. I hate excess wires and hoses that can go bad. I didn't need much since I am not using stock carb with a bridgeport obviously.

I find the rat's nest to be okay to look at... it's simple if you understand what everything does

The reason why I removed the rat's nest is because I just like the idea of giving the trees what they like to breath.

good piont error i think the stright pipes did that for me. i got pulled over for the noise but when the cop walks up and talks to you just keep staring forward like you don't hear him then he will yell and you can yell back and he thinks your deaf.

neat trick aye?

Only way your gonna gain any performance is if something was working improperly.. Otherwise you just gain a very simple engine/carb to work on
