Installing an O2 Sensor...Where?
Ok, I want an air/fuel gauge, but I have no idea where the O2 sensor goes...Help maybe?

You need to weld in an O2 sensor bung.
I made my own bung by cutting an 18mm thread "Spark Plug Non-Fouler" in half and welding the internally-threaded half into the header collector. Then a standard O2 sensor threads right in. You can get generic one-wire units fairly cheap.

Oh...I didint want to hear that...I dont want to drill or mangle my new RB header or pre-silencer
. Guess Ill just slack off on this idea for a while then. Or how terribly inaccurate would it be after the header/pre-silencer?

actually the haltech says to install it right after the headers if possible. of course so you see the full systems reading. if you want to get crazy install one in each part of the header so you can keep tabs on each rotor.
So could I just pop one into the connecting pipe after the pre-silencer and before the muffler? Thats the only place I would really be willing to put it, even with how much I want this gauge. I was thinking I could put it as close to the pre-silecer (engine) side of the pipe as possible. I just want to be able to monitor the car a little better than guessing...

Yeah, thats what I figured...Cool. Ill just plan on putting it there then...Or maybe a custom piece only a few inches long right after the header and before the presilencer? Theres another idea...But how to do that...Cause then I would need a custom connecting pipe I think...And with a lack of funds, I'm not sure I could do that. I could make the "little piece" myself if I had the flanges, gaskets (RB sells them) and the tubing, I could just weld it up myself, no biggie, but I cant bend tubing, so I cant make my own connecting pipe
. Oh well, I'll kinda look into it. Which would you do? Im gonna put on a magnaflow, so Im gonna butcher the connecting pipe anyway so I could just put it there since its getting "messed up", but if anyone thinks it would be more accurate BEFORE the pre-silencer, then I'll look into that more...

The O2 sensor needs to be in the collector of the header. It needs to read both pipes and it needs to be as close as possible to the engine since it only works above roughly 600degF. If the O2 sensor isn't hot enough, you get meaningless info.
Damn...So could I put it right behind the header/collector before the pre-silencer because I dont want to drill into either piece, and my header collects at the end of it anyway, so ~4 inches down from the actual collector wouldnt hurt very much...Right? So Ill make the piece in between the header and pre-silencer and put it there cause then it would be in the "collected exhaust flow", and it would still get hot enough to work...I hope...Any thoughts on this?

It's just a doohickey that threads into a spark plug hole, and a spark plug threads into it. Supposed to keep the plug from fouling. They sell them at auto parts stores.
Aleternatively, if you're not going to weld it in yourself, if you take it to a exhaust shop they should have genuine O2 bungs in stock. Make sure to bring your O2 sensor with you so they get the correct size, and also to plug the hole after they weld the bung in

Should any old O2 sensor work? Or are there different ones? Im so lost on this whole subject...I mean, if all it basically does is detect the amount of O2 in the exhaust stream, then shouldnt they all do the same thing but maybe have different threads or something? Man, I just dont know...
