I think I have a problem...

What normal person takes a day off work and drives 15 hours round trip to buy 20 year old poorly running car? This guy!

I bought tech_greek's 85 gsl-se to use for parts on my 85 SE. Well after getting it home and looking it over I think I now have 2 rx7's to fix up. This thing was in great shape as far as interior/exterior. I think tech narrowed his flooding problems down to a bad injector and its also burning some coolant so I think a rebuild is in the near future but other than that its pretty damn nice (thanks Tech) !

Funny thing is when I first came here 6 months ago I was looking to possibly SELL MY CAR not buy another! Ive had my car for 13 years and this site has inspired me to not only keep it and become more hands on with it but I end up w/ #2...

Mine (older one) is the one with plates...

Oh, man - the bug has bitten.

Are you married? Girlfriend? Be prepared to start pumping money into your cars to keep them running. I have 2 RX-7's in my garage (my 84SE and an 80LS) and a brand spanking new Mazda6 and a Q45 on my driveway.

Good luck with them. Going by Tech Greek's past threads, you'll get far by just replacing the fuel injectors on that car - sounds like he has an open circuit on one of them...

I see in your pic, the neighbor is watching. Mine wasn't too happy with me and all of my 7's. He finally moved out and now the popo don't visit as often.

Well I bought the car to inexpensivly replace my suspension and front brakes and I did sell my truck so I have a decent chuck of change to spend. Also with no car payments I figure that gives me a couple hundred bucks a month dedicated to the 7s (mostly to my original one for a while). Im swapping shocks/struts/springs and front brakes to my car this weekend - I cant wait!

I am married with a 2 year old so most of my work is done after 10:00 PM with a few 4' shoplights draped around the car (just no air tools allowed!). And my neighbors are all pretty cool (mostly older pothead types) so I dont ever worry about complaints.

NOOOOO MY BABY!

Don't worry; I still have my dads to toy around with...chirping 1st to 2nd Gear and 2nd to 3rd gear (brand new engine in it).

Just a few things to point out to you so you know;

1) The horn doesn't work because the previous owner before me rigged the fog lights up to the horn relay so half of the (should be yellow wire) is missing to go directly from the battery to the relay, it was fused at a blue fuse (15A) I believe, I think I left the wire in there.

2) The drive side window goes up all the way; you just have to hit the up/down button a few times and it'll eventually go up all the way...just started doing that before I sold it.

3) The hatch latch needs to be adjusted probably, you have to make sure it’s clicked down all the way or say hello to fog in the cold mornings.

4) The A/C compressor I have no idea if it works because I tried buying a belt for my model but it didn't fit so I gave up, I think the previous owner said it rattled so he took it off.

5) Did it smoke out your neighbor’s yard yet with the burning off of coolant in the chamber on a cold start?

Who knows, maybe one day you'll be selling her and I'll buy it back...sorry about the paint I tried to wax it thinking it'll help it out but it just made it worse in the long run.

It has a K&N Oil Filter on there right now, and Valvoline High Mileage 10W-40 in there, the air filter definitely would need to be replaced.

I went ahead and bought new tires for my thunderbird, the rx7club hasn’t seen the last of me yet!

That the problem with my new "parts car" Tech, its too damn nice! When I show people the picture they think my car is the parts car because the paint isnt as nice (damn cheap macco paintjob). Im going to move my old suspension and stuff over from my car to yours(its not shot but its pretty tired)so I can keep it running and restore it eventually. Im looking into new injectors for my car so I can move the stock ones over to #2 and hopefully correct the flooding. Ive already wired up a feul pump kill switch so its easier to start. I did smoke the neighbors out a bit on startup but I think the holes in the exhaust were more disruptive! I cant believe I trashed my old stock exhaust when it was pretty much just bad gaskets that led to replacement (all RB).

Your dad fired up the 12a and it sounded pretty tight. Looked like mostly cosmetics left to do.

Yeah,

I just can't see people saying the paint job on my x-rx7 is nice hehe, it had oxidation marks galore! When it's wet it looks pretty good because you can't see the marks but when it dries the stupid white shows up pretty bad.

The car ran great, it wasn't the fastest (16.8 @ 81 MPH on a GTECH) but it still did what it was supposed to do, and that was get me to and from work, now that it's gone I miss it really bad, that's why I was tempted not to sell it! :P

It’s also running really rich due to the stuck injector or whatever, so that’s probably hurting the performance real bad.

You'll get a LOT of looks because of the exhaust leaks, but hey, my dad’s rx7 vibrates anything in site its so freaking low toned!

If you have any questions about how we did something on it or something like that don't hesitate to call me.
