Friend Has A Smoking Problem
Hey guys. My friend has this smoking problem... His FB puts out white smoke while shifting under WOT, and under normal WOT right after it's warmed up. I'm thinking he might be running too rich, because the smoke is white. It isn't blue, so it's not oil burning. Do you guys know what it might be? It doesn't happen when he's not under WOT. I'm thinking it might be his a/f mixture, or his secondaries. Could the secondaries be putting too much fuel in somehow? Thanks a lot for your help.

White smoke when shifting at WOT is a symptom of worn oil control o-rings. The sudden change in pressure caused by letting off the throttle pulls oil past the seals and into the combustion chamber. Another sign is higher than usual oil consumption.
BTW, dark smoke is usually an indication of a rich condition.

My friend said there is no coolant loss, and only marginal oil loss, as in the normal amount rotaries like to eat. So you guys think it's the oil control o-rings? Thanks.

While we're at it, another question:
What does it mean if there is a fine black film on the inside of the muffler tailpipes? It will recolor a finger with a single swipe!

While on the same subject how do you think exhaust systems get so eaten up? The water that the hot/cold etc creates mixes with these deposits and creates a sort of acid and it eats the exhaust system from the inside out
