how much oil does your SE hold?

curious...over the past few oil changes I've noticed that i'm overfilling my SE by using the 5.8 quart capacity off the owners manual..this would explain my startup smoking to some extent...obviously it's still going to smoke a lil bit..
I changed the oil this morning and monitored the dip stick as I filled
4 quarts showed nearly full on flat ground
I put 5 in to be safe..it is still showing just a notch above full
started it up..total absence of smoke
what are you other SE owners putting in for full capacity?

I don't know about the -SE because it has a FMOC that holds some oil, but my GS hold 4.4L perfectly.

So 5qt sounds about right.

5 qts, 5.8 if the cooler/lines are empty. A little extra oil won't the engine. I know some racers run 1-1.5 qts high.

thanks for the input
I think I'll keep her around 5 quarts
another odd detail
I had gone about 3,000 miles/5 months before the oil change and in the last few weeks noticed the oil pressure gauge was reading low somewhat
I know they are far from accurate
after the change RP 10w/30 before and after
the pressure is reading higher now
maybe a good gauge as to when change oil
ha ha not very likely logic
yet the gauge is definately higher now

Did it have RP in it before? Synthetic will usually give a higher pressure reading for the same viscosity oil.

If it's around 5qts for the 13B, how much for the 12A then? The Haynes manual says 5.5qts.

I also found that the amount specified by the manual was way high on the dip stick. I was kinda worried that too much oil would put too much stress on the seals. So 4 quarts would be right then?

Something to Remember!
The Oil Filter is Mounted so that it will drain some oil back to the pan and give you a Higher than DryFill reading on the Dipshit.
I run 5qts with the OMP Blocked Off=PreMix and have a 84 Motor with the under Radiator Oil Cooler SetUp.
After each Oil Change Approx 2000 Miles I get out 5qts.
No Smoke Ever, so I figure that 5qts at least for this setup is correct.
