How Hard Is It To Replace A Water Jacket Oring Seal

I JUST FOUND OUT MY CAR HAS A BAD O-RING SEAL. I BOUGHT IT AFTER IT SAT FOR NINE YEARS. i GOT IT RUNNING AFTER CHANGING THE FUEL PUMP, AND THE CARB., CLEANING THE LINES, AND CLEANING THE TANK BECAUSE THE GAS TURNED TO GOO!!!!! SHE STARTED RIGHT UP AFTER THAT :d BUT SMOKED (THICK WHITE) BAD AND I WAS PUZZLED UNTIL I RAN ACROSS A THREAD STATING THAT WHITE SMOKE MEANS O-RING IS BAD, AND NOW SHE WONT START AT ALL ANY BODY KNOW HOW HARD IT IS TO CHANGE ONE, AND IF I SHOULD REPLACE THE APEX SEALS AND PORT IT WHILE I AM AT IT? ALSO I WONDERED IF THERE IS ANY KIND OF KIT OUT THERE THAT IS EVERYTHING I NEED REAL CHEAP??? IF NOT WHERE TO GO TO PIECE ONE TOGETHER???? MY 80 APPARENTLY HAD A BAD O-RING AND AFTER A LITTLE WHILE OF MY BROTHER RUNNING IT HARD WITH CLOUDS(A WEEK OR SO) COMING OUT OF IT IT DECIDED TO BLOW AN APEX SEAL OR SOMETHING (I THINK THAT BECAUSE IT STILL TURNES OVER BUT WONT START , GO FIGURE) NOW MY 79 WONT START AND WHEN IT DOES, IT SMOKES AND WONT REV, FLOORED, OVER LIKE 3800 AND THEN ITS STAGGERING AND BEGGING TO STAY ALIVE THEN IT STALLS AFTER ABOUT 10-20 SECONDS AND WONT START AGAIN . HELP ME, I NEED IT BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ANY HELP IS GREATLY GREATLY APPRICIATED!!!!! THANKS ,
ANDREW

I wouldn't worry about it locking up 'cos you're going to have to tear the engine down anyway to replace the O-rings.

You can try a compression test to see if it is terminal.

if it is the water seal your gonna have to take her apart. While you are there you can measure the apex seals to see if you need new ones. They are the expensive part of the rebuild process, if you do not need housings.

Get a factory service manual.

Good luck

You're gonna need to overhaul your keyboard too. You have too much compression on your CAPS LOCK key.

Changing an o-ring is a piece of cake.......... once the engine is apart.
