Help required to complete a drift RX7

Hi Guys, im new and can I say what a great forum! finally found a place with the right guys and knowledge..

I have an 85 RX7 with a Rover V8 engine, we are trying to setup the car up purely for drifting fun. Now being new to mechanical work myself, could someone please tell me how to free up more drifing fun? ie can anything be done to the diff? if there is one? How can I set this up to be the drift car I desire?

Thanks.

Take the V8 part out of your post or it will get moved. People here get loud when they hear v8 and 7 in the same post.

Stiffer spring rates, thicker sway bars, performance shocks, lsd or locked diff is a must, don't need a lot of power but an exhaust would help a little to keep the wheels turning, front and rear strut tower braces, camber plates, polyurethane suspension bushings all over, maybe something to get just a little more steering angle (it's actually pretty good stock), lots of money for tires, patience, swearing, and practice, practice, practice.

Thanks guys, tomorrow is taking all the excess weight out ie interior, cage going in. Any reccomend where I can get springs, sway bars etc for this year of car?

The car has enormous amounts of power already but need to lock the diff, anyone know how to do this? or LSD lock off?

Thanks

the v8 being in it has screwed the 50/50 weight.. the front for the car weighs alot more than the back... your goint to gut it taking more weight off the *** and middel of the car making the back even lighter....now you have built a car that wants to push thru turns in sted of slide around them... also cars are set up to have under steer from the factory. as the avg. person can fix that better than the *** end of the car coming around them..

your best bet is to put the car on scales and try to fix your weight problem after you gut it best luck to you

there are alot of things you can do

ford 9" rear-end swap with that v8 would help solve both your weight and LSD problems.
