If you live in Georgia you don't need that tube, unless you'r having problems with carb icing. You may want to make a cover for the hole on the manifold, I had a harness melt once.

Are you talking about the carburetor preheater hose?

Well, it may not be necessary in your locale, but it sure doesn't hurt to maintain it.

Trust me, the last thing you want to do is remove the heat shield around the manifold/header. You can burn off the bushings in your idler arm without it.

Ask me how I know.

yea, prob should leave sheild it really contains heat. you may want the tube in the winter to make heat faster inside the car, but other wise leave it out

also, remember this: if you take the heatshield off, you will further heat up your intake air, making it less dense and decresing your engine's volumetric effiecncy. i reccomend leaving it on.

The carb preheater hose does not affect the heat inside the car.
