the benefit is that he can run fuel injection in the CSP autocrossing class. and since his comptetitors are, he needs to also if he wants to win.

his car is FAST!!!!!

What gets me is that he used the series 5 intake manifold.

Looks like he had to adapt it on at an angle to get it to clear the alternator.

I wish my scanner was hooked up, I would *love* to scan the pics in and post them. It's... bizarre, like the time I was looking at a sweet big block in a tri-five Chev for a good solid five minutes, then saw the MAP sensor on the firewall, then noticed the fuel injectors neatly mounted in the carb-style intake manifold.

Thats because the Series 5 intake is THE best intake (pre-RENESIS)
With the VDI and dual intake runners it takes full advantage of the rotaries intake pulses to maximize engine performance throughout the entire powerband .. from idle to redline.
Thats how his car can put down 150 RWHP on a stock ported 12A along with a Haltech. IT-S cars with stock 6-port engines put down anywhere between 175 to 185+ RWHP with S4 ECU (give Sylvain Tremblay a call).. even many EP racecars have the Series 5 intake in favor over a 52 Weber carburator.
I spilled the beans ... Easy to guess now what setup Im currently working on

Yes its a 12a running FI with a S5 upper. I think its a 12a turbo lower intake manifold, that way its a 4 port, and then he addapted the upper S5 onto that. Pretty cool set up, leaf sprung car that beets miatas...

How do you get a S5 manifold onto a 12A?

I think thats the guy that I saw in the magazine that pulls ?? G's in corners.

By what Bern said that fast and that all the miata guys wonder how he beats them. Solid axle vs. Independent Susp.

If its the same one in the mag hes still running the stock 4 speed tranny!

A 12AT "lower" would not work. A Nikki carb does bolt on to it, however. (12ATs had a one piece manifold that looked a lot like a carb manifold, except it was pinched and squished upwards to make room for the close-mounted turbo, kinda like the 13BT manifolding)

I don't remember the S5 manifold being cockeyed like that. Okay dammit I'm going to figure out how to hook this scanner up to the computer so I can scan the pics in.
