Angry Got pulled over...got really pissed off!

Got pulled over tonight by a durrango police SUV. I was getting on the interstate and there were several cars behind me at the light. When it turned green I let her loose up to 75mph on the on ramp and let her cruise at 75mph for about 3 miles down the road. 75mph is only 5miles over the speed limit here. Anyways this durrango a couple miles down the road catches up to me and starts ridding my rear end... I figure a SUV owner with sportscar ***** envy. I change lanes he changes lanes ect.. anyways so here's my exit. I turn off so does he. I get sick of it and just don't slow down for the cresent moon exit ramp. leave him buh bye.... durrangos don't handle i guess. well here come the blue lights...he asks me how fast i was going before he caught up to me...said he did 120mph just to catch up...yeah right! Anyway long story short I got a 13minute ( i was timing it) speech on how "we fast and furious guys" blah blah "see the movie think you are a race car driver" blah blah.. pissed me off... NOT EVERYONE LOVED THE MOVIE OFFICER!!!!!! I've been doing this a lot longer then a played out movie! Anyways no ticket....he said he couldn't get a fix on me with the radar gun....wheeew.

A similar thing happened to me, it was 3am on a dark sidestreet when a car comes flying up on me. Instinctively i sped up because i didn't want to be tailgated at 3am, i was going 40 in a 30 when he hit his lights. I wasn't angry though, i broke the law and i got a ticket, you didn't get a ticket so why are you angry? You recieved a lecture insted. You broke a rule and there are consequences, luckily you got off with a long speech as your consequence.

I know what you're saying, but would you rather have a ~$100 ticket or a lecture?

To the "man" any young person in a sports car is an instant target. I am about to get my license back from suspension in 4 days and I'll tell ya...I never noticed how much **** SUV and Minivan's get away with......Perfect example: Last night I got off work and went to my girlfriends, Cop pulls behind me, follows for about two lights. We stop at a red behind this SUV....The dude runs the light like its a stop sign. Cop just sits on my *** the whole time......he even follows me up my girlsfriends obscure road and turns around at the end.........WTF

They don't usually bother me if I'm on 2wheels.......but I have left many of them with their donut still in their mouth

As many of you know I am a cop. The SUV cop, probaly was doing 120mph to catch up to you. I have to do that alot when I run traffic enforcement. I dont until 11 over though. I am not saying I have never or will never speed in my 7. I would be lying but I just havn't been caught yet. If I am I will just have to suck it up and lectured by my supervisor, they find out somehow??? Anyway as far getting followed up to the driveway he could have been call to another complanant

I don't think it's proper procedure for a cop to allow something like that to happen anyway, I know here in canada something like that happened to a friend of mine.

A unmarked cop car tailgating a my buddy's modded Honda CRX, who was speeding a bit over the limit (everyone does it, no big deal) so he speeds up a bit to get distance between the 2, the car speeds up also. He figgures he want's to race and takes off like a bat out of hell, cop tries to speed up to catch up to him when he finnaly does the light's come on, and he pulls him over and gives him a speech and 300-400$ fine for excessive speeding, He took it to court and got the fine reduced to 80$, cause the cop should not have let it get to that point, he should of pulled him over for when he was only speeding 10 above the limit.

I got a lot of tickets this year and got suspended(went the speed limit during my suspended period 30days)I had no choice I lived where no city bus and taxies exist..
I was in Montreal this summer and went to a local drag race on the outskirts the party got busted by the cops when all of a sudden a Viper GTS ghost car speed up to atleast 170km/h to catch these 2 Ponycars trying to get away..I got a ticket for 105$ for watching cars race..I didn't have a car there...But I was more shocked at the Viper cop..My cousin's friend later told me they have 2 Viper cops in Montreal to stop all those heavy modded cars..Damn now I wanna be a cop driving a Viper??maybe not..

dont get me started on bastard cops,

dont get me wrong, I have much respect for the police. they put there life on the line to keep me safe.

But I cannot stand this traffic bullshit.

The SUV and minivan thing is absolutly correct, they get away with all kinds of rediculous ****. no signal(cant stand that).
Plus I live in minnetonka, MN which is one of the richest areas in Mn. there are SOOOOO many police cars here. I cant go more than 3 or so minutes without seeing one.

just the other day, I was comming back from a movie, it was about midnight, and I was heading to a party. As I crossed a intersection (at speedlimit) there was a cop merging from the intersecting street. He was two cars back when he merged on. He proceeded to pass the two cars and get right on my *** (i was in my ford probe, which is stock looking from the outside except for tint and a muffler).
So hes riding my ***, turning his radar on and off over and over to make my radar detector go nuts. this goes on for about two miles. when I finally reach up to turn it off, he flips on the cherries.
Finally, I think, I can get this overwith.
I flip on my hazards(which I was told is what your supposed to do when pulled over) and begin to slow down.

He then pulls hard on my *** and nearly hits me as he passes, just hauls *** up the next stoplight (which is red) runs the light turning left, and turns off his lights.

as I get to the intersection I see him just driving normally with his lights off.

Un-*******-belivable, this kind of **** goes on constantly here. to many cops and not enough crime in this area.

I called the police department and filed a complain about him (caught some sort of number of the side of the car) and some other things.

But its not going to stop.

A friend of mine has a maybe 71 Trans Am. Hes got it looking real sweet and pretty fast to. Well we were driving through a city close by at about 10 pm. A car pulls up next to us, we are in left lane, they are in the lright one. Well we needed to be in the left lane so he sped up to about 40, spee dlimit was 35, and the person sped up with us. We slowed down to about 20, so did they. We gunned it, go tto about 60 before we had room enough to move over to the right lane. At about that moment the person behind us puts one of those magnetic dome police lights on his room and turns it on. Pulls us over and he got a ticket for 200 buck for doing 25 over in a residential area, and for rechkless driving. Man did it **** him off, but he is fiarly rich so he didnt care, but i woulda complained forever

excitingleopard, that may or may not be true, but it's certainly not why I would do that. And I have actually done this once before.
I live in a rural area in NY, and the towns are sparsely populated, and small. The closest town has one cop car, and a bunch of yocals that think they're on the set of the Dukes Of Hazard. They all do part time shifts.
Now granted, I would be hard-pressed to do that to a trooper, big mouth of mine and all, but I did stop dead on the main street because one of the town cops decided to pull out behind me and follow me. It was last year after the time change, and so it was'nt late, but it was dark out. He followed VERY close, and it seemed like he had his bright lights on, though I'm sure he probably did'nt. (NObody would be that much of a dick, right?)
So I was crawling at 30 MPH in a 35 zone, got fed up, and stopped right dead in the road. I put my hazards on, got out, walked up to his window, and he let his down, and I asked him if there was some kind of problem. He said "No.", and I continued on with grilling him about whether I had a light out, or my plate was dirty, or was I speeding, my tires look OK, ect. Very snide, yes, as is my way when I feel like I'm being unjustly fucked.
I completely caught him off guard both by my actions, my words, and probably by the suprise of my age (I think he was expecting I was some punk-*** teenager.)
I asked that he not follow so closely, or please just flash his lights, and I would gladly pull over so he could go by.
He now waves to me whenever he sees me pass through town.

I understand that our cars look fast. They are fast. But there is never...EVER an excuse for climbing right up someones *******. The only thing it can possibly do is intimidate the person in front of them to go faster or pull off to the side and let you pass, which is an inconvienience. But with lights blazing in your rear view mirror, and glare reflecting off everything in your car, it becomes a serious pain in the ***. And they KNOW IT!

No. I'm not done. I got pulled over last year, by a trooper, doing just exactly what naugrim and 82streetracer described happened to them. He was in an unmarked car, the only one behind me, noone in front of me, on a very long, flat, straight stretch of road with a passing lane, and he chose to ride my ***.
Now folks, I'm not the most experienced driver ever. I've only been driving for 4 years, even though I'm 35 (due to epilepsy), but even I know that you have GOT to leave some friggin room between you and the car in front of you when you're doing 60 MPH!
This guy was less than one car length away from my bumper, and making me very, very angery. I sped up...he stayed right on my tail. He had every chance to pass me, too. Finally, a curve was up and coming, and I was going to nail it. Just before we got to the curve, we were doing 80, and he flipped on the lights.
Immediately my heart fluttered, as only I knew that had I gone around that corner, I would've had my liscence yanked then and there. But it was a short-lived feeling of relief that was replaced by sheer contempt and anger at what was so obviously an intimidation tactic...what I'm convinced is one of those "unofficially-discussed" revenue rackets. I was NOT racing with this *******, but how in the world can you convince a redneck republican drunkard town judge of that fact, right?
The cop knew that I knew what he had done, and he dropped that ticket...an 80 in a 55, down to failure to obey a traffic signal device.
Waddaya want, he was young and still wet behind the years. Soon he'll outgrow that foolish sense of guilt for pulling those BS moves on people. Probably about the same time he graduates to driving an SUV. He can use the fact that he's seen someones brains splattered on the highway as justification for doing this type of intimidation-netting.

In a cops eyes, you're driving habits are judged by the type of car you drive.

The problem with this is that cops are wary of the people they pull over. Anyone who pulls over in front of a cop, jumps out of their car, and walks over to the police car is likely to be shot or at least have a gun pulled on him.

well said. my son was in a similar situation several years ago and he's just getting over it now. it's unfortunate that the traffic police are allowed to get away with this type taunting. even when he went to court and courteously talked with the judge about what had gone down..he didn't want to hear him out. again, it's unfortunate that the judge is so callused from dealing with all the b.s. that gets thrown at him each day with guilty reckless drivers who have a lawyer and a big mouth. i just keep telling him to do the right thing, that's all you can do.

I would rather pull over the minivan or suv because I am less likely to get in a pursuit. I enjoy them but they don't like us getting into them because were not exactly a rich department so have enough problems trying to keep are cars on the road and out of the garage. I've know a few bastard cops on our department, surprised no one ever sued them. The tailgating could be because he was pulling a pace, I don't agree with being inthe same lane for saftey reasons. I use the lane to the right of the vehicle. Tip - Only a few types of radars can run radar in the same direction the officer and you are driving, if that makes sense. If you are being pased drop your speed, in virginia you need to have a pace of 2/10 of a mile for it to stand. They may stop you because tech. you were speeding but they can't right you.

I would pull my gun to, I have seen multiple videos of others cops being killed from people like that so I am not going to back down and make that mistake. Thats your call.

-Which is why I said I would be hesitant (IE, would'nt ever do it!) with a trooper. But these town-clowns are akin to highschool drop-outs. The running jokes about them are that they could'nt pass the IQ test for the state academy!

By no means do I discount the saftey factor that the mere presence of police vehicles present us with on our highways. But I will also not discount that cops are people, and like any other people, there are morons that are cops. They play games as described, and put people in danger when they do it.
I'm by no means a crusader for super-safe byways. I just don't like being targeted as such and being caught in the revenue fish net of my local county and town governments.

Though I've never actually carried the conversation of such on with a cop, the going rumours out and about are that there are in fact quotas that are to be met in certain areas.
racintang, is that a truth or pure urban legend?

The very though makes me irate. I don't wish to see a doubled police presence at the end of a given month for no apparent reason. However, it angers me even more that I do not see an increased police presence during the reopening of school season, when speed limits are supposed to be lowered during school on-hours.
What the hell? That's when they should really be out there in full force!

...and for Gods sake, let us all just once see one of those damn school buses pulled over for going 75 MPH in a 55! -With our children on board and unbelted!

Getting angry is our natural instinct, but it won't do anything but get you in more trouble. ESPECIALLY if you hop out and start waltzing on over to the cruiser.

Contrary to popular belief, speeding actually is breaking the law. Just do it in a safe place and you'll be fine

I do think Highway speedlimits should be raised to 70 or 75 almost everywhere in the US.

And then you get these idiots that try to U-turn on the highway like the 70-year-old lady out here! So many damn stupid people on the road make us good drivers look bad. GRRR.... I'm done.
