glad something broke?

My car (1980) quit starting last week, and since it has been broke the city came by and wanted to fine for having a non-running car in my front yard. Well i tested the coils and the leading coil isnt firing.... thats ok because i have been wanting to do that TT thing. I already have the 2nd gen coil and ignitor so do you think i could get it running by tomorrow (Friday)? Or do you think i just should buy another leading coil

PS- I have a jacobs igintion controller, performance ignitors for a 1980, MSD wires, and MSD plugs.
Please help a newb out!!

Tell the city to kiss your ***, it's your yard. That law is partly responsible for the loss of a lot of great cars.

I know here in akron ohio, we have that problem. My parents had to scrap a 71 Impala coupe with a 400sb because it was tarped over in the back yard while my dad was building an engine for it in the garage. City said you're not allowed to park a motor vehicle on any part of your property other than your driveway. And any car that does not start and drive is considered a junk vehicle, which is forbidden. I want to know how a car can be a motor vehicle if it doesnt even have a motor? Huge lawn ornament, maybe...

It's friggin BS is what it is. I always hated that.

Is it the city itself or is it some kind of neighborhood council type thing? You know the guys who set up the covenant and crap? They can be friggin ****'s about that stuff. Pisses me off if I think about it too much, so I'm gonna go away now. :P

yeah its not so much the city (Warner Robins)... seeing how i live in the back of a neighborhood and have parked the car in the same spot for over a year now. We dont exactly have a lot of space in the neighborhood so eveyone parks on the street...... why my car was called out, i dont know? But i think it was this new neighbor 4 houses down from me, he just moved in and one of the other neighbors got a complaint about leaving his trash can out by the curb. Whoever it is should get the stick out of their *** and move out.

Anyway... thanks for the swaping the coil idea. I think i read on here not to long ago where someone said that it wont even make a noticable diffrence without a trailing

I suggest covert and constant eggings until the complaints stop.

+1 on covert tactics. fork his yard. i saw it on some MTV show a couple years ago, and its hilarious.

if im not mistaken you can run it by doin what wackyracer said. that would be a good temp fix. if youre still running the 80' style electronic dizzy, i HIGHLY suggest you swap to the newer dizzy. i did the swap to my 80' a few months ago. at first it mademe nervous, but its VERY easy and id be more than willing to walk you through it, if you needed.

i have a parts GSLSE thats been sitting my yard since i bought my first 7....three years ago. my community has rules stating you cant have "junk" cars either. luckily that part of my yard is blocked off by trees. i wonder what they say if they saw a 90% parted car, thats half burnt, and crushed in on one side sitting in my yard..haha. man, i need to call someone to come pick this thing up.

also, can we get some pics of your 80?

also,

yeah i could get you some pics if you want.........its not the sexiet 7 in the world, but it gets your blood pumpin when you drive it.

Well i got it cranked and it sounded great and reved up so i took it for a spin around the block. I didnt even get it into 2nd gear before it stopped. i brought it up to about 6000 rpm and it just died and made a BOOM noise. Expecting the worse I pushed it back home and look what i found.

this ever happened to anyone before?
I think i got off pretty lucky!
