I have a s5 JDM turbo motor I am wanting to sell. Has right around 40-45k miles. Not one bolt has been touched on it since shipped from Japan. As far as to answer your question on the swap. The basics are to get a 84-85 13B OIL PAN/FRONT COVER/FRONT MOTOR MOUNT BRACKET. There is more envolved in getting the turbo tranny to fit in the proper location. Although to get the project on the road you can use the gsl-se tranny meanwhile.

Either N/A or TII,the S5 engines are fun.

The S5 turbo has great power and is smooth.I run one in my 84 at about 300HP.The factory 200HP can be bumped up 40-50HP with just boltons.
The S5 N/A is a real winder with a factory approved 8000RPM redline and good lowend.Factory HP is 160 and more power is only a few mods away. Both styles have easy to upgrade, metered air EFI.

Both swaps will require the same amount of work, but the extra torque of the TII will make drivetrain mods almost mandetory. The N/A isnt much gruntier than the SE engine,so the stock tranny and rearend should hold up OK.
Please do some searching, there are hundred people a week asking this question and its been covered over and over again. There is a couple years worth of S5 swap info archieved here from myself and others that have done the swap.
There are technical hurdles that are specific to the S5 swap and many opt for a S4 swap because its simpler...but the S5 is for the most part, superior and more "refined".If you start the swap and have specific questions along the way, please feel free to ask.

from what i was aware of, the t2 into se swap had to have the driveshaft shortened..

but the s5 NA just bolted directly in, or so ive been told.

im not wanting a boosted car as im tired of the turbo problems im having with my sr20det 240.

the goal for me is a reliable close to 200rwhp NA fb

It's the nicest shell I've ever seen for sale (if it hasn't sold) Harness and dash still intact. Everything striped fixed and preped.

He had a thread in the classifieds with pics a while back.

If you want good paint on a 20+ year old cheap jap car, you're going to have to paint it.

That one has countless hours of prep (all the hard work) already done. Smooth, zero rust and ready to be any color you want.

Good deal in my opinion.

But good luck anyway.

It doesnt matter what engine you choose, they are both the same size.
The transmission you select will determine if the driveline has to be changed/modded.The N/A S5 will bolt right up to any 1st gen tranny and the stock driveline will work fine. The TII tranny requires a custom driveline which is desirable anyways since the puny N/A Ujoints would likely protest when put under the strain of a turbo engine.
The only catch to running a 1G tranny behind the S5 N/A could be the starter engagement. You might have to run a rear counterweight and a 1G light flywheel to get the starter/ring gear to mesh.Ive not messed with N/A trannies myself,so I dont know for sure.If so,its a small price to pay for not having to modifiy the shifter location, mount and driveline, compared to doing a TII trans swap.....and besides,a light flywheel goes hand in hand with the revvy S5 N/A engine anyways.
