Don't get me started talking exhaust. 2" 1/8" (.120) wall RB or Borla components. There's really nothing else worth anything.

I agree with Jeff and PercentSevenC. 2" OD mild steel 1/8" thick wall is the way to go. The thicker steel really reduces noise.

And the muffler packing material must be stainless steel wool, especially for any muffler close to the engine (before the rear axel) otherwise it'll self-destruct.

My neighbor just complained yesterday about my REPU being too loud so you guessed it - gotta redo the center section of my exhaust which is thinner aluminized steel and magnaflow fiberglass & stainless packing. that magnaflow has gotten gradually louder to the point it annoys me. oh well it's just time and $$$.

off to racingbeat.com for the real deal presilencers.

Well I bought this exhaust for $200 locally, I didn't expect much out of it, I just needed an exhaust to pass safety inspection.

Once winter is over, and the car is back on the road, Ill fork out the money for a good system, with my RB header.

Modded FB Intake/Exhaust vid.

This was my car that I sold two days ago.

Specs are - 1984 Mazda RX-7 GSL 12A rotary engine. Weber 40IDF carb and intake manifold, K&N Filter, Pacesetter header, dual straight pipes back to Monza Muffler, Holly Red fuel pump and FPR, 3/8th fuel lines,NGK plugs and wires. The air dam is a Xenon fibreglass piece. That sucka was LOUD.

Borla still going strong here after a year and a half, but the Ebay N1 on the back blows out every so often.

Yep....I'll say it again...Magnaflow's just DO NOT LAST....mine were 3 mos. before they were toast. Definitely RB pre's....either 2nd gen. 2.25's, turbo 2.5's or the new universal's in 3" for bridges and up! Gunna run two 3" RB uni oval's on the "in-the-build" P-Port. We'll see I guess...

Here's my thread about borla being in the center section and my fix to it.

Tuned exhausts

Hey, I had an idea.

I've been watching the threads and folks seem to have a variety of exhaust configurations. Some have RB headers, pacesetters, with/without pre-silencers, different mufflers, and even home made configurations.

I thought it would be cool if folks could post a description of their exhaust configuration and attach an audio file of what it sounds like.

I think it would provide a good way to compare sounds so others can replicate the exhaust of their choice.

Comments?
