Yeah I don't get why you guys are saying its gonna be really loud, cause righnow I hace no cat or presilencer , and a shitty cherrybomb turbo muffler (this exhaust was on the car when I ought it) and I don't find it all that loud.

Probally cause I used to rip around on a Can-Am Qualifier 175 ( 2-stroke) with a straight through silencer all day long

Do you think I could use a glasspack as a resonator? It would probally get the guts burnt out of it, but there would still be an empty void filled with air, that would absorb sound....or is that just a bad idea?

i agree that you should get a borla. the magnaflow and other free flowing mufflers get too hot on a rotary and start to not only get louder, but crappier sounding after about a week and in a 2 month span it will sound so bad that you may just want to run straight pipes all the way back. i burnt up 2 canisters and a magnaflow in about 6 months.

I have the Borla equivalent behind an RB header on the new Silver GSL I bought a few months ago, great power but awful noise, I hate it and wouldn't drive it on the road because there'd be a good chance of getting pulled over, even here in rural Georgia. I'll be replacing the Borla with a stock or RB muffler even if I have to loose a bit of punch.

borla is packed with stainless steel, where magnaflow and the others are just large glasspacks

No my Magnaflow uses stainless steel packing.

Read, High Temperature, Stainless Steel mesh. I don't see how stainless steel is gonna get burnt out. Also lifetime warranty.

It's that 'High Temperature Acoustical Material' that worries me. Looks like glass and is probably what actually fails in Magnaflows causing all the headaches down the road.

Borla, on the other hand, has a ceramic material which can withstand higher temperatures. They also proudly state that their mufflers are high grade T-304 stainless all the way. Magnaflow doesn't even mention what grade they use.

So does Magnaflow. It just comes down to how often you weant to cut your old muffler out and weld a new one in. Magnaflow = many times and Borla = none.

Magnaflow = Lifetime warrentty. For the life of the part, that is.
Borla = Million Mile warrentty. Longer than most any 3 cars combined could ever last.

If I ever need to replace the Borla-clone muffler on my car, it will be with a genuine Borla. Funny thing is, it didn't get much louder when I put the RB header on, just changed pitch a little (got a lot raspier). I have a RB presilencer that will be going under the car, sometime. I bought both the header and presilencer for $100, barely used.
The car is loud, but not as loud as many bikes and redneck-powered pickups around here. Still, there are times I would prefer it to be a little lower volume.
Heck, it's not loud enough to irritate the police cheif, who lives 1/2 block away from me, or the cops at the police/fire station I drive past everytime I am leaving or returning home. Guess that's a perk of living in a town that had zero RX7's till I moved in. Both of the 8's in town are stock.........

use a dynomax race muffler for a presilencer many have had good luck with those including me. it looks like a glass pack so its easier to hide unde your car. I run 2 of them plus a rear muffler 3inch all the way back.

I bought a pre silencer today guys. I don't know if you guys are gonna aprove, you guys are harsh.

Vibrant Resonator, 2.25, stainless steel packed, and made of T304 Stainless Steel, and a 5 year warranty. Think it'll help at all?
Also picked up a new slave and master cylinder.

Slave was $23
Master was $73
Presilencer was $83

(Canadian)

That little presilencer looks almost like my (only) muffler on the inside. Of course, my muffler is 6" outside diameter, and mounted at the back of the car.
It should help reduce the noise level, and if it is truly 100% stainless, it might even last a long time.

for the price of that presilencer you could have easily bought a borla muffler or two magnaflow mufflers like what im using for a resonator
