I had the same prob with my 84. In order to fix the prob you can do one of two things.

1. got get another driveline out of a 84-85 and replace the whole driveline

or...

2. (this is what I did) take a 83 driveline and swap it into your car. Real simple should bolt right up.

Hope this helps.

Will a 83 bolt right up or do you have to change any thing

I may take the drive shaft 2 the shop, were they will re-build it and balance it at the same time. Don't have an idea how much they r going 2 charge me.

U-joints

Napa does offer them for the 84-85. Part # should be 220-0063. On the driveshaft there was a design change mid year on 83. When swapping drivelines from the 83 you need to make sure it has the larger flange to mate with your 84-85. As far as the u-joints listed for the 84-85 i have not tried it. I would recommend calling your local napa and getting the tech hotline to find out if there is anything special they want you to do when you change them besides marking the mating flange of the driveshaft with the yoke for reassembly. rx7doctor

Correction part # is 2100063 or 397 made by puj or spicer 51504x by spicer.
According to their books it is not for the do it yourselfer. So on monday i will call their tech line and fine out how they can be properly replaced. rx7doctor
