Distributor swap

The pictorial showing how to swap from points to electronic distributor posters here have linked does not work anyone have it to share. I am referring to the mazspeed article.

Found this write up can anyone verify what wire is ignition power on my '79 photo?

Thanks I see it is the black white wire now my '79 has two black whites a little different than those diagrams.

Yeah, whats going on with the three resistors?

Seems like its time to dust off the multi-meter.

All you need is 12V + for the coils; the power from the hot side of the resistors will give you that. Ignore the third resistor... or trace it to find out what it does.... or do what I would do and unplug it and look for the non-working part

I'm assuming you're going direct fire? Wire up the HEI's or whatever you want to ignite the coils with the latter model distributer.

Yes i have that thread bookmarked, just wanted to see how other 1979 owners cleaned up that spot when they did the switch over to electronic ignition, thank you.

Finished with the swap got all the info i needed reading old threads good stuff. The car is driving very nice much better than points only weak spot is not the best idle with the weber but once you are going is perfect. Will tidy up the wires when im happy everything is in order.

Ha! If you look by the strut tower I already cleaned out the area for a mounting plate in the future.
