one day drop in the purchase of gas leads to a one day flood of gas purchasing.

seen these a million times, lame idea thatll never work. think about it for about 2 seconds and youll realize why

what we should do though is everyone quit driving and start riding a bike and walking, thatd kill two birds with one stone. the gas companies would crumble and everyone would quit bitching about americans being fatasses after they loose it all

As others have said, this is just another internet rumor.
Doing this will change NOTHING.

And, AWS, doing what you suggested would destroy our economy: I'd bet money on it.

No, I'm pretty sure it would either destroy or severely hamper our economy. Think about it, almost 3/4 of the stuff that places sell cater toward the "I drive places and eat what I like" crowd.

The only feasible idea would be to boycott one type of gas station.. for example, Shell... then that would force them to lower their prices, then it would create some competition.... but right now with everything going on in the gulf... i wouldn't mess with anything.

Since prices are gonna be high for awhile, might as well drive less.... gives us an excuse to ride a bicycle or something..... wait.. i'm too lazy.. nevermind. I'll just have to stop eating taco bell and quit smoking.

Agreed. I'm feeling sorry for those people on or east of the gulf. . . I'm predicting $10/gallon soon enough what with the shortage.

well let me just say... i'm in charlotte, NC. my whole city is almost WITHOUT fuel. over half the gas stations are shut down because we have a shortage. prices are averaging around 4 - 5 dollars for all octanes. doesnt matter anymore. i filled up my vehicles and i plan to just sit at home for a few days. which still sux because we're not gonna be back to normal for atleast a week and a half. IT ******* SUCKS!
