corrison in oil pipe
the pipe is just pressed into the block and can be removed. i used a rubber mallet... whack on alternating sides until it loosens enough to come out. the new one can be tapped right in. if you've got a lot of rust, i'd highly recommend changing the oil after you've done this... don't want any little rust flakes in the oil!
the filter will catch lots of stuff... but it pays to be safe sometimes. you might also try twisting it off by hand before using the mallet trick. i just tend to gravitate to my all time favorite tool too quickly... the BFH... big friggin' hammer.

you should be able to clean up the old one. try and get down in it with some steel wool wrapped on a broomstick. or maybe a long handled wire brush. get it all nice and purty in there, then paint it with some super durable paint... something that'll handle high temps and oil contact.

If you've got bucks to spare, get it ceramic coated like they do for good exhausts.. That'll stand up to anything.
Or just donate cash to me. :p
