cat was clogged........

Started pulling parts of my car today at a friends house..........pulled the cat.............heard lots of crunchy noises......out comes lots of stones clay rocks.........
My friend said he had never seen a cat so destroyed..

its only has about 1.5 years on it.......So it went bye bye........had a straight pipe made and decided to put the RB muffler on........will give it a spin later this week...... The old muffler was full of junk......

Do cats go this fast or do I have other problems........Or was this a cheap cat..........Orig an Arizona car converted to Calif emission Ok car..........now temp not smog OK.........Hope its not too loud.......

yeah... my cats got plugged and it got to the point where I could barely even move from a stopped position, let alone up hills!!

Once they're hollowed out or just replaced the car will definitely get louder.... just make sure you tighten it all up and have a presilencer or muffler still and you should be ok :-)

Have any of you ever poured ATF into your engines? If you have, do you think it could have hastened the demise of the substrate?

No ATF......Does the stock cat have some sort of identification? I think this maybe a cheap knock off.......real cheap........

I never used ATF...
My cat was replaced a number of years ago and was ordered from Mazda, I believe...
Mine looked really crappy too, I think it's just that when they die they look like hell (and blow through everything making a mess...)

You figure that the cat would burn out trying to catalyse the ATF?

Either that, or simply clog and loose its ability to catalyse pretty much anything.

So I drove the car today without the cat............

Also had new RB muffler on........It really pulls air through he system now.........

But the car does not seem to be that much faster

It also is not any louder at all actually is quieter...

What do you think?
