Bearings in Engine?
here's another question, if i'm doing a rebuilt ported engine soon, would it be worth it to add race bearings? are there any disadvantages? the car won't be raced, but i drive it hard on the street.

Did someone tell you your bearings were bad?
Well a car I am thinking about buying... the owner said that he had a mechanic (piston mech) look at it and he came to the conclusion that the bearings are bad... dunno what that means though...

ha ha. Unless your bearing has a gold/copper line running through it which is from the front pulley tension by the way, you want to stick with the old ones. The old ones are work harderned so they actually last longer. I don't know this for sure, I have heard thats how it works. But the rear stationary bearing is worth going to the 3-window so it can have more oil feed capacity at high rpm. But if you are not planning to have your peak HP above 7500rpm and sustain that RPM, you'll likely be fine. But if you were, I'd get a high-presure oil regulator.
This car doesn't even run... it turns but doesnt run... first thing I will do is the ATF treatment... then start to clean the bay out and run wiht minimum setups...
Like no A/C, no electronics, etc... disconnect as much stuff as I can and see if I can get it to run... then add on as I see fit.
