Aha! An RX-7 owner EVEN OLDER than me! I just turned 66. I learned how to drive at 11 (when my feet reached the pedals) on farm machines. First car I bought when I turned 21 was a new bugeye Sprite - a great car, especially with the Judson supercharger I added.

I was 15 when I got my FB, and owned it until I turned 17. Now I'm 18. It was my second car, but since my first car was a 1974 VW Super Beetle, it was quite a step-up... lol. I guess now is even more of a step-up since I went from my FB to a S5 TII

I turn 18 in June.

I blew my Mustang up (Hooray) So I had an excuse to buy one of these. I now drive an 83 Rex.

In the next month, my dad is buying me another Rex for my Graduation.

It is an 84 GSL-SE. It's an automatic, but hey, who cares!

Andrew,

You are not alone. I am also 14. When my brother was 13 or 14 when he got his first fb. From that age to the age of 16 he had 7 fb's. Then he got and MX-6 and kitted it and did all kindsa other stuff. This is my first car, and I plan on keeping it for a very long time because I absolutely love my car.LAter

P.S. I drove this car for the first time when I was 9.

I'll be 22 the end of February.

This is my first Rx-7 (84 GSL) but I have always had strange cars.

1971 MGB roadster (still have, installing sebring widebody kit)

1973 Opel GT - wannabe corvette

1983 BMW 528e - automatic tank

1988 Accord LX-i coupe - learned why keeping oil in the block is a good idea (Ka-boom!)

2000 Accord EX 5spd sedan - not bad for a family car

I spent $3200 for my GSL last month. Near Mint condition. But, now that I see so many around for a few hundred, I imagine I will have my own fleet of FBs this summer.

Well, I am 32 and just bought my first RX7- do you know how hard it is to find RX7a without the 'optional' sunroofs? Being 6ft 5, I need the extra headroom. I have owned and worked on many cars in my driving life, and this car makes my 9th Mazda product.
I have owned:
1982 Mazda GLC 4-door 5 speed (both my older brother and I learned to drive in this car- tough car)
1982 Cavalier type 10 CL 2 door hatch 4-speed
1986 Mazda 323 SE hatch 5 speed. great car! until I totaled it.
1984 Toyota Celica GTS 5 speed coupe. well built car.- leanred how to do body work on this car, and mechanical work.
1984 Pontiac Grand Prix. 3.8 auto. got rear ended first time I drove it after fixing all the bodywork.
1973 Ford F100 360 3 on the tree 2wd long bed- no power nothin (steering or brakes)- I rebuilt engine in apartment parking lot.
1990 Nissan 240sx SE hatch 5 speed. over-rated pretty-moble with a truck motor. But it did handle sweet.
1997 Mazda Protege LX 5 speed. (purchased new)
1992 Mazda Miata limited edition (black w/hardtop with tan leather and BBS wheels- great car)
1990 Mazda 323 SE 5 speed- many mods (wrecked twice, sold and is now being drivin with the wheels sticking out 1 foot each side )
1988 Dodge Caravan 3.0 auto. dad wanted me to get rid of his high mileage old van.
1994 Chevrolet Cavalier coupe. Auto. result of trade with friend who wanted the van (for some reason?).
1976 Jeep CJ-5 304 3 speed. Not running. result of trade with friend over van. (morale of the story- when somebody wants to trade two vehicles for one old but good running vehicle, run don't walk away because the vehicles they have are junk)
1990 Mazda B2600i 5 speed 2wd reg cab.
2001 Mazad B2300 reg cab 5 speed. New Mazda designed engine makes the Ranger much better- purchased new.
2001 Mazda B3000 ex cab 5 speed. my 3.slow but reliable. Purchased new.
1985 Mazda RX7 GS 5 speed. Love it!

I am 22, purchased my '84 RX-7 in June of 2001 (kinda my 21st birthday presant for myself ). It was my 6th vehicle, and I am about to sell my 10th vehicle i've owned.....since 18! (I'm sick). Now that was an increadible list, Brealistic. I am working on one so magnificiant myself .

1991 Ford Tempo GL 4 door - loved that car, it was my first! unfortunatly, I smashed it into the back of a saturn in dec. '99 @126,000 miles.
1974 Dodge Tradesman 100! - Great little van! ORANGE! never failed me even once!
1981 Chevy G30 Beuville - Another great van. BIG. Too bad about the gas prices.
1989 Mazda 626 LX - First Mazda. fell in love with this company in this car. still wish I'd have kept it after the front right wheel left me.....
1992 Ford Ranger XLT - First Pick up. Great little truck too, nothing special, but it was reliable as hell for me. Second ford owned, also Smashed at 126,000 miles :-\
1984 Mazda RX-7 S - I honestly did not know what an RX-7 was before this one....sorry. I thought it was an old datsun/nissan 280ZX. I looked at the Odometer to see the 215,000, turns out it's from canada.... groovy!
1998 Ford Explorer - Purchased this after I smashed the Ranger. Wanted another Pickup, however, I also wanted a 5 speed....never knew they made manual transmistion exploders
1987 Ford Ranger - First vehicle purchased on Ebay! not bad deal, had fun in the explorer and a uhaul dolly towing it back too! turned out it had a blown motor and i put it back on ebay and made $200 more!
1985 Ford Econoline 150 - Got this one from a freind at Good Year for $150, it runs! Had so much fun on ebay with the Ranger, figured I'll make a bit of money here!
1993 Ford Tempo GL 2 Door - Missed the original (believe it or not) and this was a great deal, good looking tempo that gets great gas mileage over the explorer, go figure, eh?

Thats my list O' cars. I have not been without 2 or 3 at a time since the dodge van. could not stand that one week without any vehicle after the tempo was smashed, and now, this RX-7 is one car I truely love that I will make sure nothing happens to it, and it goes no where but the finish line . I now own the explorer, RX-7, tempo #2 and the van will be posted on ebay this weekend.
That's prolly a little more info than this thread warrents...but, oh well.

Good night!

How come this thread wasn't called "age of First-gen owners" instead of FB-ers?

I got an SA, baby....

and BTW, since everyone else is havign a pissing match to see who had what by a certain age... here's my previous cars...

1. 1988 Mercury Tracer 3door. aka "Bubba" Bought it from my mom, used it as my beater/backup car. See #4.

2. 1996 Chevy Impala SS. aka "Da PIMPala" Stroked to a 383, Lingenfelter heads, Callaway intake, Vortech Supercharger, Camaro SS 6-speed. Totaled it by hitting a deer @ 120+ mph on I-84West in NY.... near Poughkeepsie, NY. I miss it.... a LOT. But, that accident also fused my 7th and 8th vertabrae together... and I learned a lesson from that crash... don't take a 5100lb. car hauling *** around mountain roads.

3. 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX. aka "The Unlucky Irish" Had a 20G turbo on it, exhaust, and a BOV. I didn't know **** about imports at the time... and didn't know how to work on them.... so I had some shop inNY do all the work for me while I watched. NEVER AGAIN is anyone doing that much work on MY car. Car was totaled by a drunk driver while sitting in the parking lot. Car was appraised @ $28,000. Insurance gave me $11,500.

4. 1988 Mazda 323 GTX... aka "Bubba's new shoes." Was purchased in order to swap the 1.8L TURBO BPT engine into the Tracer. GTX was towed from in front of my apt., and managed to get completely stripped by the time I got to the towyard. oh well... I only paid 200 bucks for it anyway.

5. 1983 RX7 GSL. aka "Rusty Jr." This car is the donor car for my widebody... giving up much of its interior to be used for the widebody (I need to find SOMETHING to get me out of E-Modified in AutoX!!!!). Provided I can sling a plasma torch like I used to, and a MiG welder, then this car will also become the shell for the 4-rotor "Chefasaurus Rex."

6. 1979 RX7 S Widebody. aka "Bubba Jr." I'm buying this car from zyounker HOPEFULLY this weekend... I need my check from Uncle Sam... but when I get it... expect hundreds upon hundreds of pics. I LOVE THIS CAR!!!!!
