My hatch is misaligned to where one corner almost contacts the body.
I noticed the part of the hinge where the pin goes through is bent on both sides so that it's spreading out.
I just tried bending them back but didn't get very far, don't have a vise and would need to make something to hold them straight.
Has this happened to anyone else here? Wanna guess the odds of getting another bent pair before seeking part out ads.
They are made out of cast metal and usually only bend once. Bending back usually ends up with cracking or breaking a piece off. I'd post a WTB on the classified area or the FB page.
Once they bend, they should be replaced. When they are bent, you will notice the hatch glass shifting from side to side as you open it. Typically it's just one side that goes but if one side is bad and left without being replaced, I think it can cause excessive wear on the other side, causing it to fail prematurely.
Both are bent. The lower left side of the hatch is almost in contact with the body.
I think when the car was repainted a while ago the body shop tightened them before checking alignment.
Hang on to the body + glass gaskets! Most of the set is NLA!!

Great , one of mine is no longer water tight and I was thinking i could just order a new one, sigh.
Aftermarket gaskets / seals are garbage too in all honesty so that doesn't even bum me out (except the aftermarket racing beat door seals) . I bought those Tail light housing gaskets from Phills rotary and was disapointed at how bad the rubber was and how poorly they fit but It was that or nothing .
I'm going to try to restore that gasket by soaking it in that peppermint oil mix ASAP before it gets any worse since it just started failing. A buddy of mine salvaged some unobtainable rubber window channels for his 50's ford that way that looked preety grim using a peppermint oil mix .
I've used Shin-etsu silicone grease to help restore rubber seals and stuff before. I wonder if restoring with the peppermint or wintergreen oil then working in the silicone grease would provide additional benefits?
I should still have my original (to me/maybe the car too) door gaskets maybe I'll give it a go and report back.
Received a pair from Rhinehart yesterday, sprayed a new coat of black on them, and installed them this morning. The gaskets from my original set transferred over without falling apart.
Aligning the hatch was annoying. The FSM says to tighten the hinges from the inside while it's closed, but after reconnecting the hatch struts the lower left side was still closer to the body.
The solution was to disconnect only the left strut, align the glass and tighten the hinges again.
