Think i spent $300 on a diff pinion that wont fit :/

Think i spent $300 on a diff pinion that wont fit :/

I own a rx7 1985 gs drum brakes. Couldnt find a diff or pinion no where . My boy out in texas sent me one for $300. Pictures are attached im pretty sure its a lsd not open diff should off looked better. Do these no pictures look like disc brakes or drum brakes ? . Thanks and will a gsl diff pinion fit in a se ?.

That is a brake disk.

If you just need the differential, it doesn't matter if it came from a drum or disk car, any 84-85 differential will work with your car.
GSL-SE has axles and disks that are different to the GSL, but the diff will still swap.

$300 seems to be the going rate for an LSD, why wouldn't you want one?

Cuz ill have to swap out alot of parts he just sent me the pinion not the whole diff. So it wont fit ? On a gs diff ?

Have you identified what you would need to change? Normally if you have the entire pumpkin with the attached input shaft, it will just bolt right in.

I just need to know if a gsl pumkin will fit into a gs diff and will the axles fit? . I have drum brakes . I really dont want to swap out alll these parts plus i only have the pumking. Not the whole diff. Thanks

Yes - it will work as long as both are from a 1984-1985 regardless if they are disc or drum.

84-85 axles have the same spline count at the diff. The diff will fit. $300 is not a bad price at all

You wanted a diff, he sold you a whole centersection and not just the diff. What you wanted, I think, was a rearend.

On a brighter note, you paid only $300 for something that goes for 2-3x as much, so there is that.
