Ah, the joys of getting a basket case. I was going through the headlight turn signal switch. Cleaning contacts and re-lubricating. As an aside, the high beam switch did have a fair amount of carbon. So as I was cleaning the 38 year old grease off the mechanism, it seemed strange that the spring would just ride on the plastic ring like that.

Found it. Or at least a picture of what I am missing. good luck tracking this down...

Bad news is you may have to buy a whole turn signal assembly to get the needed, missing part. Good news is, you do see them from time to time and they won't break most banks.
