Aftermarket Temp gauge

Has anyone installed an aftermarket temp gauge and sensor on a 12A engine? If so, what brand did you use and did you have to use an adapter for the sensor.

My gauge doesn’t work, so I’m thinking about going with an aftermarket setup. Yes, the temperature sensor has been replaced and the wire going to the dash gauge is good.

I used iEquus electrical gauges in the water neck.

This is a 1979 water neck on a 1985 12A. It's aluminum. Just had to drill and tap to 1/8" npt. You can also weld a bung into the steal neck.

Yes, that's what he's talking about. That aluminum SA housing is perfect for the installation.

Here's the steel neck version, I just JB welded the sensor into a half inch hole I drilled in the housing:

Installed in my 83 LE 4 years later:

It's the inexpensive SunPro unit, with the gauge dial installed under the dasy:

I've also installed the mechanical SunPro gauge in FB's the same way.
